Cork / Re: Charles Reid or Reed 1856 County Cork

Thanks for that. I did find the marriage on rootsireland but it only gave the father's surnames which didn't help!
No sign of Charles baptism on ancestry or rootsireland- do you know anywhere else to look?
Thanks for your help.

Cork / Charles Reid or Reed 1856 County Cork
« on: Friday 15 July 16 15:08 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace Charles Reid who married Ellen or Helena Cashman in Middleton Cork 1882. They had two children born in Ireland and two born in England and emigrated to England between 1884 and 1889.
England census 1891 and 1911 give his birth as 1856 in Cork and occupation as stud groom.
No luck at all with finding his parents. Can anyone help please?

Yes. I have a copy of the army record of the marriage. For some reason they call him John, not Mark, but it is definitely the same person. The names and professions of the groom's and the bride's fathers are given and Maria's  father is James Isdell, carpenter.

Thanks very much for your help and interest which is appreciated. I would like to think it could be the James and Jessie family but in the probate record it says he was a farmer and from the marriage certificate he was a carpenter.

Thanks for that.

On the 1911 English census Maria's place of birth is given as Navan, Meath.

It is her marriage that you found - her nationality on the certificate is Irish, so I don't think her mother just happened to be in Ireland when she was born.

I am researching Maria Isdell born Navan County Meath c 1864
She was married in Fyzabad India to John Kendall. Father was James, a joiner and probably in the British army. Any help or pointers to finding anything about this family gratefully received.

Does anyone know what Divisional Pro Coy and "appointed A.P.M " mean in the context of the 51st Highland Division in WW2 ?
I have this soldier's army number - are there any sites I might get information about him?
