World War Two / Sgt. Norman Crowhurst, RAF

Is this too vague? Would like to trace service record of my uncle, served in RAF in WW2, Born1921 in the Uckfield area. Only memory of him was a photo of him, sitting at a piano, wearing RAF uniform with sergeants stripes. Died about ten years ago. Anyone help, please? Thanks

Some years ago I was trying to locate students at this school, which I attended from about 1949 to 1955, who remembered a teacher Ken Myers. A number of people replied, bringing back many happy memories of the school, but no-one mentioned Myers. I must admit that I did not respond to all of the replies, to my shame, and only came upon them today when reading my history!! Any one still out there who might remember the school or Ken Myers?  Thanks

hi martin/tichtaylor. I know its been a long time since you posted. Did you have a brother there named Ben? I was at the school from 1949 until 1955. I remember the teachers you name except mr Oakley. Do you remember teacher Ken Myers? Sorry for overdue thanks.Martin, I would love to see the group photos. My sister Jennifer should be in the  1944-49 ones.

slightly of topic, but years ago, at secondary school I had a friend called Reginald Baker. He always appeared to be aloof, far better than the rest of us. We left school and lost touch. The last I heard was that he had changed his name and become an officer in the army. His new name? Reginald Gordon Leslie William Baker De Sugg. I often wondered how his service career went!

Someone mentioned Streuall Peter. I had a copy of Streuall Hitler which was published , I think by the Daily Mail,in the early 40,s. Long gone now, but they appear occasionally on ebay. The original one is now worth several hundred pounds, but most now are re-prints

(a)Having to wear my sisters outgrown raincoat to school- buttons on the wrong side, and her name still in it!(b) Being in an isolation hospital where my parents could only stand outside and try to talk to me through the closed windows- I was only six at the time, and when I was eventually discharged my favourite teddy bear had to be left behind because of the possibility of spreading the illness (scarlet fever)(c) naming and shaming?our teacher in junior school who sexually assaulted most of us lads and was sent to prison. Did we receive, or expect, any sort of compensation or counselling for this in the 50,s- no- just got on with life
