Thanks for the prompt replies from gaffy and Elwyn Soutter.

Hopefully, a step nearer to identifying John Kennedy's roots!

Lancashire / Thomas Crehan's lodgers, Leigh & Galway
« on: Monday 25 August 14 16:01 BST (UK)  »
In 1911 census at 14 Thomas St Leigh are:
Thomas Crehan (32) born Galway and his wife Emma (31).

There are also 2 boarders:
John Kennedy (22) and Thomas Hynes (24) both born Galway

John Kennedy may be my grandfather who was killed in the First World War.

Can anyone shed any light on Thomas Hynes maybe from a family tree?

I am particularly interested in where Thomas Hynes was born in Galway? It is even possible that John Kennedy and Thomas Hynes are cousins from the same area of Galway but that is clutching at straws.

Galway / Thomas Kennedy Marriage, Bullaun?
« on: Monday 25 August 14 15:38 BST (UK)  »
According to 1901 Census, Thomas Kennedy (45) and his wife Bridget (30) are living with Thomas' mother Honoria (70) in Bullaun, Kilmoylan plus their 5 children: Patrick (9), John (7) Ellen (4) Mary (3) and Thomas (1).
Seven year old John Kennedy may or may not be my grandfather who was killed in the First World War.

Can anyone help with finding out the maiden name of Bridget Kennedy and when they were married?

I have access to some records from St Anne's if you send me some details

Hi,

Bridget Powell aged 34, (no address given, just states address as Bold), was buried in St Anne's & Blessed Dominic graveyard, Sutton on 1 January 1878. Registers state that she died on 29 December 1877

Jan,

There is a baptism at St Annes for Mary Quinn born 28 March 1862 to John Comfort and Anne (no maiden name) Witness Ann White.

There is also a baptism for James Comfort born 2 March 1860, parents John Comfort and Anne Quinn, Witness Catherine Brady

Hope this helps

Jim

There is an Ellen Quinn of 92 Edgeworth St Sutton, buried at St Annes who died in 1952 aged 71 but that would make her too young for your Ellen

Sorry Jan, but I can find no record of a marriage between Michael Quinn and Ellen Duffy at St Annes in 1887 or in any other year.

Perhaps it was in a neighbouring parish. Where was Ellen Duffy's home?

Regards

Jim

Do we know where in Ireland Michael & Margaret Quinn originally came from?
