Thanks again for getting in touch.

I seem to be having problems contacting you as it would appear that the personal messaging service doesn't work until you have made more posts or something like that!!  Can you get in touch please.  We are cousins as we share the same grandfather (though different grandmothers).  I made these posts years ago when I was first starting out and have since done lots of research on the Neal family.

I am aware that Conrad has at least a son and a daughter and also aware that John died but, I believe, has at least one offspring.  I always hoped that one of you would contact me.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Harry Neal and Minnie Dent

If any of Harry's family read this I would  be very happy to hear from them.  Harry and Minnie were born in Rotherham and later moved to Hull.

I have just found the message from Vintage Aus - I wasn't notified - as you quite rightly said - I have not been on this site since March last year and very infrequently before that.

I've sent a PM to Vintage Aus but am unsure as to whether it went through as I attempted to add an addendum which would not go through as apparently his Box is full.

I would very much like to hear from him.

Thanks

Thank you.  I already wrote to them but they didn't reply.  I might phone them, if I dare!  I think perhaps they get too many requests.  I learnt from the archives that the Catholic Church had retained had all surviving Catholic Records.

Thank you.

Thank you.  Interesting reading.

Mary was Mary Shea McFarlane for sure and I know that the index states just Mary Shea but I was asking for the catholic marriage record and not the GRO record.

John Patrick Hadley and Ruth did marry in 1886 for sure an all an all.  In the Catholic Church in Jarrett Street.  There are lots of Hadleys and the later marriage to which you refer is another John Hadley, not John Patrick's.

I have the GRO marriages.  It is possible that the church records will not tell me any more but I inherited a couple of catholic marriage records from another part of the country and they listed not only the fathers names but also the grandfathers names and even more interesting - where they came from in Ireland.

I have a catholic baptism that lists the Godparents.

I daresay it depends on the priest but it's worth a shot.  Irish family history is so difficult.  Without knowing where they came from it's like looking for a John Smith in England somewhere.

I do know where John Hadley the elder came from though as I have his army records from Canada and the Peninsular Wars.

I will look at the links tomorrow, thank you.

Thanks for your input.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Stockport baptism CATHOLIC
« on: Tuesday 25 February 14 23:11 GMT (UK)  »
I think you missed the point.  I asked if anyone could Please look at the catholic parish record.

I know that John Hadley married 3 times and I would like the info that is entered on the church record for his second wife.  Witnesses etc.

The third marriage was in Hull.  The first I really don't know but it was in Ireland.

For Francis, yes, sorry I did miss the year off and it was indeed 1837.  I have Mary Willis with a question mark as his mother.  I did not know that Cheshire bmd listed the mother's name for Francis but I have just looked and it's correct, thanks so the marriage is also correct.

Thank you for responding but I really would like the catholic records for the additional info.

My John Hadley or Sometimes referred to as John Adley I believe is not the same as the man who married Charlotte Fowden, hence the request for the PR.  many catholic records are more comprehensive than the GRO records and the fact that Charlotte Fowden marriage was not in a catholic church suggests it's an unlikely match.

I have spent a four figure sum on GRO records and have had to draw the line now that I am not working.

Thanks for your help.

Devon Lookup Requests / Catholic baptism Stonehouse/Devonport father was a soldier
« on: Tuesday 25 February 14 14:22 GMT (UK)  »
This is a big vague so apologies for that!  I am looking for Joseph Hadley (or Adley) who was born in Devonport/Stonehouse in 1826.  His father was John Hadley of Sligo and he had been  in the Army, serving in Canada and the Peninsular War.  I think he might have been in the hospital in Devon as he had ongoing illnesses following his discharge.  Joseph was definitely born down there and I am hoping there will be a catholic baptism for him.  If anyone can look this up for me I would be grateful.  I have about exhausted my search.

Thanks
