I now have her marriage certificate.
She was living in Heaton Norris.
Her father was James Lyon, chemical manufacturer, deceased.
One of the witesses was Catharine M Lyon (nee Power I have determined) (M=probably Margaret but sometimes written as Mary.) She was the wife of William Lyon, a manufacturing chemist b. 1833.
(The other witness was Charles Halliwell who, according to the 1891 census, was a boarder living with Catherine in Preston. He was a cotton mill manager. William was dead by then.)
I have determined that brothers Job Henry Lyon and William Lyon ran an alkali works in Runcorn and a bottle factory in St. Helens under the name Lyon Brothers. They split their interests and Job ran the bottle business (Peasley Glass Works) and William ran the alkali works under the name Lyon and Sons at Old Quay Alkali Works. Both businesses eventually went bankrupt.
James must be tied up with them as it was Catherine who rocked up to the wedding. I thought he might have been a son of William but the ages don't work out.
So I still don't know where James fits in.
William and Job's father was Elias Lyon and mother Maria Gatley.
