Hi, very new to this and have no cotton connections but have Probert link and quite close to where you mention. my maternal great grandmother married Mr Probert.... sorry no detail and lived in spetchley all her life in a tied cottage belonging to the squire of spetchley (it may be a different squire but he still owns them) she was Margaret Probert and she died in 1968. Grandad probert (as he was referred to) died while my mum (now deceased) was a nipper. she told us he had lost his hand in the fire and he had lots of red hair (beard, mustache etc) they had one daughter Rose Anne/ Rose Annie who later became a Fortey. if its any help or you want more please let me know.
