Thank you Jim and Carol for your prompt replies.
Jim, what do you base your estimate on? Ages of subjects or clothing.
Carol, I can not scan at the moment as my printer has run out of ink and will not let me do anything even though only want to scan not print. Will scan and post  in a few days.
Kind regards.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Date year of Photo Please

Attached Photo is believed to be of the Kennedy family. Photo taken by W.E.Perrour, Longreach,
( Qld. Aus). The male subject in the middle of the back row is believed to be my wife's Grandfather*.
Info we have on the family is; Father - Robert b1859, Mary, 1957, Children - Andrew 1886, Mary 1888, Robert 1890, James* 11892, William 1896.
The second young female is a mystery, perhaps a wife or another daughter that we are unaware of?
The photo is on 2-3mm cardboard with small radius corners. There is no other info on the front or back.
Any help would appreciated.

Hi Cando,
You are correct, Mary did not marry Thomas Hocking. I have sighted the birth certificate which is in the name of John Henry Gill. Mary signed her name "Mary Gill". Father Thomas Hocking, Publican , Alberton.
Your hunch was right, Henry Warren Short  is buried at Hindmarsh Cemetery (12/11/1874). Grave no. B64.
Mary Allington/Short nee Gill is also buried there (12/07/1887 ) also Grave no. B64.
Also as you mentioned Charles George Allington buried 14/03/1889. Grave no. B63.
All that is needed now is to find when Henry W arrived in Australia.
SAGHS have the PROV fiche for the White Star arriving Melbourne Nov 1856. The unassisted passenger list
shows there is a Henry Short 18, Laborour, Irish. Age is a bit out so a bit unsure if this is him.
Thanks  for your time and interest once again.

Kind Regards

Hi Cando,
Thank you for the passenger information.
Re Marriage, I did  a typo and it should have read Mary.
I have found this link that states Mary married again 3 years after Henry died to a Charles (George) Allington.
http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.short/1328.1.1.1/mb.ashx
Mary's date of death was 9/07/1887. Had a quick look but can not find where she is buried.
I will definitely have to take a trip to SAGHS to clarify all this and make sure I record all the reference numbers.

Kind Regards

Jack

Thank you Cando and Essie for your replies.
The marriage of Thomas and May is on the SAGHS index ( but not the on line one ) but the birth of  John Henry Hocking is.
I have searched the on line SA cemeteries and shipping list to no avail.
The closest match I could find is a Henry Short aged 18 arriving Melbourne 1856 on the " White Star" . Does not state if a Crew member or Passenger nor can the record be viewed on line. ( Vic  StateRecords Dept. Ref Part 'B' Folio 115 Page 007. )

Thanks once again for your interest.

Henry died 11/11/1874  aged 39 at Tam O'Shanta Belt, an old district in the Port Adelaide area. Father recorded as Henry.
He married Mary Gill on 14/1/1861.  They had 7 children for which I have the details of.
Mary was previously married to Thomas Hocking and they had one child ( John Henry Hocking ).
I am seeking assistance for the following:
Where was Henry W Short buried.
When and where he arrived in Australia.
Date of death of Thomas Hocking.

Northamptonshire / Re: Ann DUKE
« on: Tuesday 01 May 12 13:06 BST (UK)  »
Thank you for your prompt replies.
I have Ann born c 1781 died 1851 Blisworth. I can not find my notes as to where I found this info. Perhaps calculated from a Census.
I do not have access to Ancestry . It appears others are having the same problem as myself.
The only thing I can think of is that Ann was not her real name and that she was baptised another name(s).
