Family History Beginners Board / Information on WW1 records

I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction .   My Grandfather enlisted on 9th Dec 1915, in the Royal Engineers as he worked on the Railway.
His WW1 record shows he was Home 29.9.16 to 12.5.17  and BEF 13.5.17 does anyone know what BEF means? The biggest puzzler is a photograph of him wearing a Scottish attire , Kilt and scocks. There was a bit of a rumble that he did a runner and was put in the Scotts regiment but I can't find how to substantiate this.
His name was Alfred Pearce and date of birth 24/11/1881. Regiment number 201563  WR 260312
Than you for reading

Hi
If anyone is able to look up a death register I would like information on Jan/Fe/March  Vol 6a, page 39 1884 Walter Earnest Pearce , he was born 1879 and his given age on the 1881 census was 18m. Died age 5. Parents Matilda and Henry Pearce, in the reg District of Bristol.

I am interested in the cause of death and also where place of death was recorded .  Does anyone know where or how  I might find out a  burial place? He was recorded around Barton Regis area/Gloucester. Bristol.

Hi Annie

I found it ! And the lovely lady who was in her garden in the whir Bungalow filled us in on how the main house was split in the 1959’s into 3 . We went through the gate on the side and met with one of the owners who kindly allowed us to take photos of the outside and garden. Do you have any photos of Marden that you wouldn’t mind sharing please ? I will be more able to send what photos I have taken when I’ve access to my laptop , im currently touring in Hampshire in the caravan. I will ask mum when I text her with my findings ! Mum has a photo of the VE Day celebrations that I will scan in for you when I’m back home . Thankyou so much for finding me !! Regards Heather

I live in Acomb quite near to St Stephen's church, if I can be any help let me know.

Hi , Thank you that is a very kind offer, would you know if the old parish registers are still on site or would they be kept in archives? We are currently caravaning near York so we could do a detour if necessary.  Thank you
