Galway / Townland of Coolfin , which catholic parish?
« on: Monday 28 March 22 20:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am unfamiliar with the geography of Co. Galway in relation to which catholic parish would someone from Coolfin be baptised in, or married in.
The family I am helping a friend to  research lived in Coolfin from at least 1860 to 1887 and there are civil birth records for their children from start of state registration in 1864 up to late 1870s but can't locate any corresponding baptism records. The family was Patrick Conry and Anne Martin of Coolfin, married sometime before 1860, children included Mary, Thomas, James, Bridget, John, Francis and Patt. Any information on local catholic parish would be great. thanks Margaret

Monica,
Thanks so much for finding that information about the family grave and posting it. It definitely matches the census information and must be the same family, having the granddaughter's name at the bottom from 2011 should really help in tracing someone connected to the family. I will share this information on the site that posted the original request.
It seems poor James died very young, just 2 years after he carried out the carpentry work on Butlers Medical Hall in Wicklow but it is nice to think that over a century later someone cares enough to try and reunite his signed piece of woodwork with a family member. Thanks Again Margaret

Oops sorry, did not realise the link in the last post was private and would not work from here.
The reason I was posting it is because a pharmacy in Wicklow town is trying to track down anyone belonging to a James O'Toole , carpenter who did some work on their building in 1915 and signed the work and they would now like to reunite this signed piece of wood with a descendant of his family. I was hoping some of the O'Toole families that might read this thread could be connected. This is James and his family in the 1911 census http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Wicklow/Wicklow_Urban/Bollarney_North___part_of_/898808/

As this thread is about O'Toole's from Wicklow town with Bartholomew's in their family and carpentry connections I am posting a link here to a shop in Wicklow town who is trying to trace descendants of a James O'Toole carpenter who signed his craftmanship in their shop in 1915, perhaps someone reading this might be connected? https://www.facebook.com/groups/wicklow/permalink/3953019348094188/?comment_id=3953316198064503&notif_id=1615563702620660&ref=notif&notif_t=group_comment_reply

Wicklow / Re: Faulkner Family from Wicklow and Carlow
« on: Sunday 24 May 20 00:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi Roger, while  I did not have any matches for your Ephraim and Catherine Faulkner in my existing records I have had a look around at on line sources and have found baptism records for Anne, Elizabeth and Catherine (b. 1820s - 1830s)born to an Ephraim and Catherine Faulkner with connections to the Kilternan parish in Co. Dublin. If you would like to  communicate directly with me on my email (*) I can share these records with you and any additional records/information I have on the Wicklow Faulkner family that may have connections  to the family you are trying to trace. Margaret

Roger,
Forget to ask what religion was your Mary Falkner?, most of the Wicklow Faulkners were Church of Ireland, but found a few who were Roman Catholic, think they changed religion to marry a Catholic.

Hi Roger,
Will take a look back through my (not very organised) records and see if I can see any connections. Do you have approx. dates for when that Ephraim Faulkner was in the British army and injured in Canada? as that might help me to see if he matches any of the Ephraim Faulkner's that appear in Co. Wicklow over a number of generations.

Louth / Re: Wallace family Castlebellingham
« on: Friday 08 May 20 20:24 BST (UK)  »
Thank you both very much for that information and links.
Also I take your point that perhaps this is not the most appropriate forum for my post as the main reason I am posting is not to built a family tree but it is just to try and locate the actual grave of Mary Wallace from Castlebellingham  (died Dec 1953 ) who I know is buried somewhere in Kilsaran graveyard. Someone I know would like to visit her grave. Thanks for all the help.
