Thanks Annemarie,

I have sent you a message. I do have more things that may be of help. Not related to any Maguire family. However I have done a lot of work researching around this part of Fermanagh looking for my own Roots.

Extracted from A Balfour Rent Roll of 1636 for the Townlands of:

Aghihould  [Aghyoule]  1 great tate Knocketegall [Knockateggal] & Gartevilley  [Gartavally??] 1 great tate Gortmoylan [Gortmullan] & Selton [Shilton - now part of Gortmullan]  1 great tate

Text entered reads: All this sett by yor selfe to  to Redmond oge Magwire from all Saints last at will for £25 per Anum. the Kings rent and Countrey charges,  without customs. [As Written].

Your new "Target" I Guess. I would start by finding the linage of Redmond Oge Magwire. There are quite a lot of Maguire/McGuire/Magwire family history's out there, so use several variations and cross check them!! Good Luck, have fun, you may get lucky.

Try this to get you started:

You need to post a little more information, like estimated ages, date born (est) and approx date of death. Porteous is not a common name, have a look here: http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/fermanagh/index.htm and search for Porteous.

Only David I can find died 18 Sept 1913 aged 70, Farmer, Registration at Rathdown, so probably not yours.

A few more listed here on Family Search, (You will need to create a login if you dont have one): https://www.familysearch.org/search/search/record/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Adavid~%20%2Bsurname%3Aporteous~%20%2Bdeath_place%3Aireland~

Yup,

Got that, but shows Grogey not Galloon. Possibly the same family, but the birth day at 1893 is just slightly later than the 1827 Galloon that is mentioned.

Open to offers though..

Hi Soni10,

Re Charles Bryans B.1827 Galloon Parish. Where did you find this Birth date? I have searched available records for Galloon Parish and can find no mention of ANY Charles Bryans. Charles is not a name I can find used by the Bryans family's of Galloon Parish. However if you have some strong evidence I would love to know about it.

There are quite a few times the name Alexander was used though.

Fermanagh / Re: Anyone researching GALLOON , especially Dernish Is ?

There are a lot of Downey/Clingan inter-marriages in the Galloon area, especially around Derrylea, Ports, Derryadd & Ballagh.

Also both families use the same common names over generations. So dont be tempted to grab the first information you find, that looks right.

P.S. Dernish Island is a couple of hundred yards away in Lough Erne, from the Western shore of Derrylea.

Hi Maureen,

Just had a quick look at what I have on the Bussel/Bushell (and variants) of Fermanagh. I can only find one Isabella (Bushel) that may fit the bill.  Baptised COI Lisnaskea on 26 Oct 1818 Father shown as John, Mother Saragh living at Maguiresbridge. Does your death record give an approximate age (birth year)? Remember my reference above is the Baptism date so birth could have been a few days to a couple of years before. However where birth dates have been recorded in this register, most seem to be within a couple of months before, on average.

Other children to John and Saragh:
John 21 May 1807 (Surname Shown as Rushel in transcription)
Alexander 17 Nov 1812 (Birth) 2 Feb 1813 (Baptism)
and Mary 30 Dec 1816 (Baptism)

Occupation for the Father John is not shown on any of the above Baptisms.

Do any of the sibling ring any bells? Any others listed with her on the immigration information?

One final note, "Joseph" is only found once in my research as a second name for William Joseph Bussell (1875) from Anaghrane, Brookborough. I have no other references of Joseph as a common family name within this family.

Hope it's of use, even for elimination.

I'm sure this is one of your family too: http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/fermanagh/photos/tombstones/fermanagh-drumswords-rc-2/target12.html Given the headstone location at Drumswords Church it may be worth looking for more information there. Loughgare/Loughgar Townland is mentioned.
