Sandy,

Well, I wasn't particularly asking anyone to help with my living relatives...

Initially, I was asking if anyone knew of the existence or otherwise of St Chrstopher's

I am grateful for your interest and advice, though

Hi,

Have a look at this site, it has some great information on birth certificates:

Hi,

Thanks for the links to the great pictures. I'm pretty new at this
geneaology searching, and I must admit I'm a bit lost at the moment,
trying to figure out the best way to put my search inquiries. But I've
got plenty of time to do it

Just had my case notes released from my local council (after 60 years!),
so I have got loads of information I never had before, including finding
the names of two siblings I never knew about, plus another whose
name I have yet to find out

Hi, Sandymc,

Many thanks for your quick reply. Would you care to share the
URL of this website?

Not found anything of interest yet with Kitson Hill

Hi,

I was transferred from the Halifax area to St Christopher's Home (formerly St Christopher's Home for Girls) on Stockport Road, Altrincham, in 1952, at five years old. I was there about a year until I was adopted, and went back to Halifax

Before that I was in Fieldhead Nursery at Battyeford, Mirfield, for quite a while, with my sister

Is the house still there/ Is it worth me coming over to take pictures? I understand it was closed due to a new road being built nearby, and the children were transferred to Bowdon

Thanks,

Brian
