United States of America / Question re Californian Birth Deaths and Marriages 1800's
« on: Thursday 28 December 17 10:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

I was wondering if any one can answer the following

Is there any one place that can be searched for

1) Californian Birth Deaths and Marriages for the Period 1840 to 1855
2) If they are available is it broken up in Counties, Parish or City records or combinations thereof
3) Are some records in Spanish and held by Mexico or English of combinations thereof

The reason for asking is that I am looking for a marriage, a birth and possible deaths in that time period

I am aware this is around the time of California becoming part of the USA, and also around the time of the Goldrush

Any advice would at least give me a starting point to work from

Many thanks in advance
Greg

Hello Sandra

many many thanks!

Is it a one page document?

Shame it did not contain an address in Philadelphia, he sort of just vanishes after 1850 in US Census

The book Representative Men and Old Families of Southeastern Massachusetts "By J.H. Beers"
says John Wallace Blossom died in California, i have not been able to find any death record.

Cheers
Greg

Hello All

I was wondering if someone could look up the following person.

Name: John W Blossom
Year of Birth:about 1821
Place of Birth:Fairhaven, Massachusetts

I know he made a declaration sometime in the late 1850s on the U.S. East Coast and he was listed as a mariner in the 1850 US Census as a Mariner.

I would like to know if it has any other information listed aside from Name/Date and Place of Birth on
Affidavit.

Thanks in advance

Cheers
Greg

United States of America / Blossom, Thomas 1580 - 1623 Massachusetts
« on: Wednesday 23 December 15 06:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All

I was wondering if there is anyone who has done any research on Deacon Thomas Blossom or his children
Peter Blossom, Thomas Blossom Jnr or Elizabeth Blossom

Deacon Thomas Blossom was on the Second Mayflower to the American Colonies in year of 1629.

Peter Blossom married Sarah Bodfish.
Thomas Blossom Jnr ???? not researched as yet
Elizabeth Blossom married Edward Fitzrandolph.

I do know that Deacon Blossom was involved with the purchase of the Speedwell the other ship that was supposed to accompany the 1st Mayflower. Did not make journey as planned as it was unseaworthy and had to return to England for repairs twice.

The research I have so far is the family settled in Barnstable Massachusetts

I am wondering if any can assist with further details of Ansel Blossom and his Second wife Hannah Wallace they married sometime around 1815 to 1820. Hannah was born around 1790 and died sometime after 1850 as she was listed in US Census of 1850.

They had two sons Charles Francis Blossom died in Massachusetts sometime around mid 1886 and John Wallace Blossom believed to have died in California sometime after 1851 he was listed in 1850 US Census and prior to 1860 as he seems to disappear in 1860 US Census.

John Wallace would have been born around 1820-1821 as he was listed in 1850 Census as 30 years old and a mariner.

I do believe that John Wallace may have been listed on the US Atlantic Ports and Seamans Register. 1790 to 1865.

Any further info on any of the above would be appreciated

Thank you in advance

Cheers
Greg

1)
What data is recorded on "US Atlantic Ports Seaman Protection Certificate"

2)
Is there any free online search facility to search the above records. Aside from the site that starts with the letter A

I sort of gather they were used from late 1700's till 1870 or there about, is that correct.

Thanks in advance

Hi rolnora,

just doing the checking the census records now for all listed, the thing that threw me also was 3 children were listed here in Australia, so have concluded Charles Ernest was married here after arrival
and only 2 were born in UK

Cheers
