Channel Islands Lookup Requests / John Smith Robertson
« on: Thursday 07 March 13 12:01 GMT (UK)  »
Searching for a marriage for John Smith Robertson b 1844 Edinburgh and Emily C (maiden name unknown) b 1849 Channel Islands - specific island unknown.   They were married about 1881, their first child was born 1882 in Edinburgh, where the family remained.   No marriage found in Scotland or England, so maybe some kind soul might be able to find something in one of the islands?

Fingers crossed

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Parish Registers - Henry Pascall

Yes, thanks, I had seen that, but he wasn't born until 24th April.   There is also a baptism record at St Botolph's, Bishopsgate - parents John and Susan(nah) - with another baptism for a Sarah Pascall in 1751, same place same parents, but Bishopsgate seems a long way away from Dover or Chatham.

Kent Lookup Requests / Parish Registers - Henry Pascall

Trying to find information on Henry Pascall, born on Old New Year's Day (which I believe is Lady Day, 24th April) 1753 (or a year either side), reputedly in Dover.   There are innumerable Pascalls in Dover, but as yet I haven't been able to find him.

He married Martha Hunt around 1775 - again no marriage info found - and their children were all born in Chatham, where they lived until about 1789.

His sons were all brickmakers and he himself founded a small pottery in a field in South Norwood in 1798.   After which time I have a great deal of information.

If anyone can help me with Henry's birth or marriage, or any info on Martha Hunt, it would be wonderful!   Thanks....in hope!

Armagh / Parish Registers - Sarah McWhirter
« on: Thursday 05 August 10 13:18 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find birth of Sarah McWhirter believed to have been born Armagh in 1851, father James.   She is not found in the UK census for 1861 and 1871, so perhaps still in Ireland.

She married Andrew Scott 29th November 1875 in the Newcastle Register Office, when she is shown as 25, spinster, of 5 Windsor Crescent, Newcastle.   Father James, Iron Worker.

She is found with her husband and children (Jane, Blanche, Thomas & Ethel) in the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census, but not in the 1911 census.   I believe she may have died in 1902 or 1908.

If anyone can find any information on either Sarah or her father James - I would be over the moon - I have searched for ages!!   Thanks.

Trying to find information on Colour Sergeant Seatter who served with the Queens Edinburgh Rifle Volunteer Brigade, 2nd Highland Company.   He won the Captain's Cup in 1877 - and I have a pewter teapot, milk jug and huge sugar bowl to show for it!    Might there be any lists of personnel anywhere?
