Completed Census Requests / Re: FARNES lookup
« on: Saturday 18 September 10 18:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Thanks for your reply. William Farnes and Sarah Wheatley did also have a son called George, but he was born in 1813.
The 1871 census states that the George who was married to Sophia was born 1808 but it was 1806 according to all the later census's. I have 7 George Farnes's in my tree.
I know that there is a mistake on The Weald website and that they have the wrong George, I have been in contact with the person who submitted the info and she agrees that she has made a mistake and has got the wrong George and is trying to get it put right. Which site did you find your info on?
I have a photocopy of an old newspaper cutting about the funeral of Georges son Arthur and it mentions many family names and that George died aged 98 years old and that Arthur had an uncle Daniel, who was my great, great Grandad, also known as Targie Farnes, he died in 1927 aged 97 years.
At the moment I still believe Georges parents to be John Farnes and Eliza Bonnick both c.1779. I am not 100% sure on this and I am stilling looking for more evidence.
Let me know if you find any other info on John and Eliza, also a Thomas Farnes born 1806, who married a Sarah Ann Unknown maiden name, I think Thomas was  probably Georges brother, and father to Daniel (Targie) Farnes born c.1830.
Are you a Farnes?
Regards Val.

Hello,

If you are still looking for Farnes's in Buxted Sussex and surrounding areas, I have been tracing my family tree for about 2 years and have found loads of them, over 200, including the ones you mention. I believe George Farnes c.1808 parents were John Farnes 1779 and Eliza Bonnick c.1779. George had a brother Thomas b.1806 who I belive was my great, great, great, great grandad. I also have 2 Ada's, one born in 1919 daughter of David Farnes b.1888 d.1955 & his wife Sarah Daniels c.1885, the other Ada Louisa, born in 1886 who married Richard Farnes (Junior) born in 1878, her maiden name was Tourle. There are so many members of the Farnes family have the same Christian names so it is very important to check that you have the right George, Richard, John or whoever!!
My nan was a Farnes. I still live in Sussex, where are you?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards
Val.
