The info that rosie17 kindly posted is the correct family. Now I am trying to find to find where he was born in Ireland about 1830. On his death certificate this was left blank.

You are correct Robert Fowler is my gg/grandfather. His daughter Jane married Richard McQuillan in 1853 at St Margaret's rc church in Ayr. Thank you very much for the website. I have Richard on the beginners board because I do not know where he was born in Ireland this was left blank on his death certificate.  His age varies in any census but it would be around 1835.

looking for my g/grandfather Richard born in Ireland between 1825/1835 [catholic] moved to Ayrshire and married in 1853 to a girl from Co Down called Jane Fowler.

when my great grandfather died his family did not know/fill in where he was born or who his parents were.as you know the scottish census age records are not exact giving him a birth date 1825/1835. i have no irish records. but i am going to dublin in september if you can tell me where and how to look it up
i also need help to get my message on the surname message board
