Graveyards and Gravestones / Does postion of grave denote anything?
« on: Thursday 19 August 10 18:28 BST (UK)  »
I recently vissted  the ancestral graveyard in  Withyham Sussex and found  about 12  gravestones of  the AVIS family  on  a little area close to the  main church door  and the path and then again onthe other side of the path  right next to the door. Does this mean the family were  important inthe church?  There wer a lot of very well off families that used this church and my family were not inthe the same circles!!!

Devon / Re: Joel KNIGHT family, Yarcombe, Devon, 1840s and earlier

Hi all

This is very interesting to me , as I hav ejust started  'doing' the Spillers of Devon then London,  In 1881 census there were more Spillers living in Yarcombe than anywhere else put together.

My  Spillers were  George edward and George Williams that married in to the Perry family.

My  father in lwas is Neil and  my Husband in Andy Spiller.  Any realtives out there?
Sue
