Just a quick question. Usually if a Church has closed what would happen to their burial records?

Thanks

Lancashire / plot details - Farnworth Cemetery
« on: Tuesday 23 August 11 12:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have a plot number of a common grave at Farnworth Cemetery and I want to get details of the plot and who is buried in it. I have phoned Overdale and they say I have to write in with a £10 cheque.

There is a good chance this plot wont show me what Im looking for so Im a bit reluctant to pay £10.

Im new to all this and just wondered if there is any other way of getting grave details without having to pay this fee?  There isnt likely to be a head stone where I can check names.

Thanks

Family History Beginners Board / Date of registration

Hello,

Could someone please tell me if a death is registered in a particular quarter i.e. sept 1961 would the death definitely be in the previous 3 months or so or is it possible the death could be sooner than that but registration delayed?  The date of registration I have been given is one year out from what I expected.

Thanks

Midmum, do you know how long hospitals would keep registers of stillbirths for and who you would contact to check the register?

I am currently searching for my stillborn sister with no luck.  HOwever someone I work with found her stillborn brother who was born at Hope Hospital.  Apparently they have a stillborn list there with details of burial. The baby who was found was from the 1960's so not sure how far back it goes but might be worth contacting the hospital first.

You can apply for a stillbirth cert from the General Register Office but I am not sure whether you would get one from that far back.  They will only send it to a parent though or a sibiling if the parents have died.

Yes I have checked all the local cemeteries. I am wondering if it was a church graveyard burial now. It's very confusing because I have found other stillborn babies listed who were born around the same time and same hospital but not this one.
