Occupation Interests / Merchant Navy - Arthur Parker
« on: Wednesday 22 May 19 08:08 BST (UK)  »
Hello - I am trying to trace the following man:
Arthur Parker (no middle name on birth or marriage certs
DoB:  18/Aug/1900 - Deptford
Military history:  Middlesex Regiment (no service record found - probably burned in the blitz)
On marriage cert to Florence Ann Blunden on 16/5/1920 he is a 'seaman'
On death cert of his wife on 1/9/1925 he is listed as 'seaman in merchant service'
There is no record that I can find of any children, employment, re-marriage or death.
I have tried Ancestry, FindMyPast,etc
He seems to have disappeared after his wife's death
Any suggestions would be most welcome
Thanks

Thanks Max - where on his medal card do you see that he was in the 1/8th Battalion?
Cheers

Hi Pauline
I would like to find any record of his service in the Middlesex Regiment - I assume his service record might have been burned in the blitz

Hello
I have hit a brickwall.
Arthur Parker (no middle name on birth cert or marriage cert)
Born 18/aug/1900 Deptford
Photo of him in Middlesex Regiment uniform
Probable Medal card shows Regt No. 242833
No attestation or service record found.
Married 1919, widowed 1925 by which time he is apparently in the Merchant Navy
Any suggestions of where to look next would be appreciated

Wow Maythree and Wahian - many thanks for discovering my 5 year old post!  And thanks for the new information.  And yes, any HYDE/HIDE in Thatcham is a relative of some sort.

Hi again
Just as an aside... it seems the Margarita was used to tow x-lighters for the Gallipoli landings from Devonport to Malta during 1915  ( www.xlighter.org ).  As this would have been an Admiralty arrangement, would it have resulted in the Crew Agreement being located somewhere different?
