Hello

Thanks for the replies...

I had a look in the directories but could not see anything for Samuel Lingard...
I do know that he became a Motor Driver whilst serving during WW1 upto 1919\20.
After that i have no idea. Supposedly he went back into selling Shoes  and Boots

As for the message from Sandymc47... Yes that the right family and i have that info thanks

Guess i shall keep searching for the clues ;)

Thanks for the help so far

Hello

After posting a message yesterday regarding Samuel Lingard and Family
I recieved several replies which lead me to some new information.
That was on the Lancashire, ENGLAND message threads

In 1911 the family is living in Edinburgh, Portobello\South Leith at 73 Willowbrae Road

Samuel 1883 Preston england
Isabella
Hilda 1909 Manchester
Later Mabel 1912 Edinburgh
Later William 1917 Edinburgh

Samuel Lingard joined the army in 1916 and was living at 69 Willowbrae Rd, Edinburgh according to info on his file in Ancestry co uk

I am now wondering if there is any more information availiable for the family. from 1911 onwards

Are there any trade directories for Edinburgh from 1911 onwards ?

The story told is they also went to Ireland? and had shop No idea if this is true or what dates

Samuel Lingard is my 1st Cousin 4  times removed ;)

Hello Everyone

Thanks very much for the info you have found upto now.. I have been trying to locate them for several years

After recieving a birth certificate today for Hilda Lingard... it gave me a extra clue , hence my message on this site.

I spoke to my friend who is also a related to these Lingards, She was really happy we have made a little progress.

Supposedly Samuel and family, went over to Ireland? and they had a shop... which was visited to by a relation c 1940s?

So maybe one day i will find their recent decendants.

Thanks for the help so far

Hello

I have just found out that some relatives called Samuel, Isabella and child Hilda Lingard, Lived at 47 Henderson Street, Levenshulme in 1909
Samuel Lingard  was a Boot and Shoe Salesman in 1909.

I can't find them anywhere in the 1911 census.

I am wondering if anyone can find them after 1909 at the same address.

They may be in a Dirctory?

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Alfreton, Derbyshire Electoral Roll Search
« on: Tuesday 15 March 11 18:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I am trying to find some relatives who lived in Alfreton, Derbyshire at least upto 1998

David Morris and Violey Edna Morris

Violet died there in 1998

They had a son called Alan Morris who was living at 10 Bonsall lane, Alfreton, Derbyshire as of 1998

Is there anyone who has access to the Electoral Roll (various years) for that area ?

It would be a great help.

Hello

Thanks for all this information... it is really helpful and is helping me to peice the Mckie branch together after many years
Yesterday i recieved a digital copy of some papers for Thompson Mckie, including a personal letter written by him.
At somepoint i will get the file for his brother Wilson Mckie.

I hope to trace more of the Mckies in NZ ;)

Cheers

Hello again..

Just to add a bit more.. i  thought i had best put down all the Mckies i have as going to New Zealand in 1913 on board the "Arrawa"

They sailed to the port of\or Wellington

Sarah Mckie, widow of James Mckie who died back home in England
William James Mckie
Hannah J Mckie
Thompson Mckie, think he came over during the war c1914-1918, and ws in the army 16 and 17 Lancers
Wilson Mckie
George Mckie
James Mckie
Ernest Mckie, Grandson of Sarah Mckie, so obviously one of the children will be Ernests parent
