Diddy, Thanks.  I have all the relevant certificates from Scotland and info about Ann Watt going to America. I've now got Elvira's baptism in St Petersburg, but the Russian info is elusive.  Some day,. all will be revealed.

I've googled the family on numerous occasions, but she isn't on any tree I find online.  It's quite possible that she did young.  A family account suggests that Margaret and her three daughters returned to Scotland, which I can confirm, from my research.

Thank you, Diddy.  I have seen it and am in contact with two members of the family.  (The marriage information for Ann, Mary and Elvira is incorrect.)

Margaret and her sister Annie Hildegard were the daughters of Sannfrid Odhner and Margaret Herd Soutar.  They moved to St Petersburg around 1879.  Two more daughters were born in Russia.  Elvira 1880 and Mary 1884.
Sannfrid died in St Petersburg around 1898 and the family must have moved back to Dundee, shortly afterwards. Ann married in 1899 and the Odhners, mother Margaret and daughters Elvira and Mary are with her on the 1901 census.
Elvira married Michael Essenoff in St Petersburg, 1908 and they had a daughter in Dundee, 1913.
I think Margaret Frederika must have married in Russia, but I have no idea where to start looking for it.  I've tried familysearch, but nothing comes up.
Any suggestions will be most welcome.  Thanks

Jane Thornton was christened on 25 Dec 1817, daughter of Joseph and Mary.  Father's occupation - labourer.  No sign of Thomas and James, unfortunately.

My husband's gtgrandfather was Thomas Thornton, b Swithland 1812, married Elizabeth Stevenson and lived in Hoton, until he died 1889.
How did you establish the parents as Joseph and Mary? We haven't been able to identify them.  Would love to exchange info with you.

I'm a volunteer with Tayvalley Family History Society and we have been asked to try to trace descendants of William Pirie and Jane Tulloch. Their son, William  b 1897, Forres, was killed in action on 6/6/1918 in France, serving with the Seaforth Highlanders.  He had a brother, George who was in RAMC as a dispenser (of medicines) and a sister, Jessie Morrison Pirie.
In 1920 George's address was 29 North Road, Forres.  Try as I might I can't find the death of William Pirie sen or Jane Tulloch!!!
Any help will be most appreciated.
