My connection is through Thomas Rogers (1721 and Mary Kerry and their son Samuel (1760) who was my 3x gt grandfather.

Regards Sylvia

Hi Sylvia

Do you know who Mary Kerry' or Thomas Rogers'  parents were by any chance

Durrant Road was by the side of the old Royal Hospital, in the centre of the town, and most of the area has been redeveloped in recent years. Very few old buildings remain. It sounds like a large lodging house to me.

Hi there

Bailey is associated with Hardwicke Hall in Derbyshire. It was the name of the husband of Bess of Hardwicke. His name was Robert Bailey of Bailey. It may have been a small hamlet in the past. Could have been overrun by another village or even knocked down for whatever reason.
I found it on a good site called A vision of Britain through time. It gives you
small villages and towns from about the 13th centuary, very interesting.

regards Sandymc

p.s. He is also called Robert Barlow in some research?

Indeed ... local tradition has it that it is Barlow and that he lived at Barlow Hall.

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Hedley, Hope
« on: Sunday 24 April 11 15:10 BST (UK)  »
Trying to trace the marriage of ROBERT HEDLEY to ANN YOUNG .... first child born in 1853 and different census returns say either Hope, Derbyshire or Bradwell, so I suspect the marriage could have been in same area.

Can anyone help ?

Hi

There is a Brindwoodgate just north of Barlow commonside (on the dlightfully named Highlightly Lane) and nearby a Great Brind Wood.

Yes it is/was a great site.

If you try to access the site now, however  you get the error message:

"This Account Has Been Suspended"

Does anyone know what has happened? Has it gone forever?
