Graham- I would love to see the Monster Will & y'r notes on same . . . Mary Ann Scott (née Taylor) and her late husband Robert Scott were both distant cousins of mine, as was Anna Selina Scott.  I suspect that the Mary Scott I have in that area of my family may be Mary Brantford Scott - the Will could perhaps corroborate this. I can be found at rootsweb.only at virgin.net
Astonishingly, a Lt-General Sir Herbert Scott Gould MILES, GCB, GCMG, GBE, CVO (1850-1926) married a cousin from an entirely distant branch of my family, Alice PARKER!  According to the info I've dug out, HSGM's parents were Maj-Gen William Miles, HEICS & Ann HURD - haven't yet found his GOULD or BARRETT connection.  There could, of course, be more than one HSGM!
Trish - thanks for those records, they all help to fill in small details.

Just discovered and fascinated to read the postings on John Scott Gould - who, according to "A Family Biography" (1908) by my cousins Catherine & Isabella Scott, was the son of a John Gould, (occupation = Woolen Trade) and my 2C 5R Sarah Scott.  Sarah was christened on 18th Dec 1763 at Ilton, Somerset, and she married John Gould on 26th September 1786 at Ilton.  Thus I believe we can identify the Sarah Gould aged 75 in the 1841 Census as John Scott Gould's mother.

John Scott Gould's wealth may well have stemmed from his father's involvement in the Woolen Trade?  Unfortunately Catherine & Isabella have left us with no further information on this.

A couple of questions:
Do you have any record of siblings of JSG, or was he, as I suspect, an only child?
And does Sophia's monster Will mention any Scott or Gould kin?

"Has anyone information about this family?  What happened to the family?"

Ah-ha, Frederick Augustus Bell had ten children and countless descendants, many of whom appear in our not-for-publication family tree.

Are you related? FAB was actually my 2nd great-great-uncle, one of the 17 children of William Bell and Annie Young

World War Two / Re: Death Record 2nd Lt. War Grave a Major?

Runje - if your mother was one of the two daughters of Major Hadden W Todd, then you and I are fifth cousins.  I can trace these Haddens back to William H, d.1754, and the Todds only back to Joseph T, father of Thomas T, 1804-1868.  So perhaps quite a bit of info to share, maybe too much to do on the list ?? - I can usually be found at rootsweb(dot)only(Atte)virgin[net]

Peter you mention "Phillis Vincent and William Cary (who are in my tree)" - did they have a daughter Jane Cay, who married William Lovell?  If so, I have many of their descendants . .
Cheers

Charles Henry Kettle's son Nathaniel married my 2C2R Lina von Tempsky, and I have much information on some branches of this family.  Where do you fit in?  I'd very much like to share information and have no worries about doing it off list
Cheers

Hi Julie
Edna Simmons was a fourth cousin to my pal Diana, whose tree I am researching for her.
Edna's & Diana's common ancestors were Joseph Crane (1779-1842) and Sophia Shermer (abt 1783-1848)
How can we share lots of more detailed info?

As a third cousin once removed of MeugJ70 I have JRM's ancestry back to the 16th century, and much information about most of the Meugens descendants outside Belgium.  My e-mail address in the posting by Shaun is no longer valid - I'd really like to hear direct from MeugJ70, (*), and to share the family info I have

Midlothian / Re: Inveresk Neills

I've just come across the message re the Neills of Inveresk, and seen postings which indicate that people are researching the descendants of:
1.4 Peter,
and
1.5 Alexander,
as listed by Beaver 13.
How about
1.3 Robert?
I'm in touch with a descendant of Robert - and also have much information on the family/ancestry of Margaret Chalmers, their mother.
So some heads-together-ing might be amusing?  For starters, have a look at:
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=babu&id=I10000
where Margaret (#6 there) and her parents figure - my e-mail address too
