Monaghan / Re: Death of Jack Storey, historian/genealogist of County Monaghan
« on: Sunday 07 January 24 12:19 GMT (UK)  »
Late in finding this and sad to hear of his death. He was a committed and dedicated researcher, wanting to both help people and to preserve the history and family history of Monaghan. I hope all his collections of BMD etc are being preserved and can be accessible to future generations too

Miles, Thank you for posting this. The confirmation of George being connected to Co Mmonaghan not Co Cavan is really helpful as it could also be the area of origin for Ann Dancy too.

Hi Miles
I have a Dancy/Dancey line from Cavan Ireland (though it flows backwards into Co Monaghan), I've been researching for a long time, and have now connected my line to various other Dancy/Dancey clusters. One of my Dancey cousins I can't yet place/connect to my line, has DNA matches to a couple of people descended from the Ramsay/Dancy line, and also to one of the Monaghan Dancey clusters.
I'm now in contact with someone who definitely is descended from Abraham Ramsay/Ann Dancy, (but one of the siblings of your in laws/wife's George Ramsay line.). Would you  be OK if I contacted this person to let her know about your wife's/in laws connections?

Has your wife/in laws side done a DNA test? I've found doing one, very useful for unearthing distantly related lines. Would they consider doing one?
Anyway hope to hear back from you
best wishes
Roz

Cavan / William Foster b about 1750 died after 1821 Drumbo, Annagelliffe Cavan
« on: Tuesday 26 May 20 23:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm looking for any more information on my 4th great grandfather William Foster who is in the 1821 census for Drumbo, Annagelliffe, Cavan, aged 70,  living with his daughter Mary Foster (m Richard Dancey).- (the family is actually entered under the name Darcey not Dancey as it should be). Mary Foster/Dancey head of the household, & by then a widow, was aged 41 in the census, and also had her nephew William Foster aged 10 (so born about 1810/12), living with them. Mary still seems to have been alive in 1837/39 - there is an entry for Mary Dancy in Drumbo in the 1837 or 1839 Valuation Office books, but no Fosters for that area. I'm particularly interested in tracing the nephew, William. and possibly the death of his uncle William. I have no other Foster family details. It's even possible the Fosters came from Monaghan. as my Dancey's had connections there.
Any help appreciated thanks

Cavan / Re: Thomas Corry 1733-1786 b Cavan m Rebecca Stewart of Bailieboro
« on: Saturday 07 March 20 17:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Thanks for both replies - I have now found the Crosslee family tree. Thomas m Rebecca Stewart is definitely Corry spelling.
However I am still interested in Corry/Corrie originating from Ballybay who moved to Bailieboro as there were Corrys in Lattom Aughnamullen parish in the early 1800's who lived close to my Danceys in Aughnamullen parish.
Also I'm trying to see if/how Corrys link up to Stewart Corry/Corrie Chambers of Bailieboro (approx dates 1817 to 1874) With Corry/Corrie as a middle name it would seem likely a mother/grandmother was a Corry/Corrie
Thanks

Hi
I'm looking for descendant records  (and descendants!) re children of Jane Dancey (possibly one orof my ancestors) and Hugh Smyth in Cavan 1833 - I have the Cavan parish marriage entry. One witness was a William Dancey - possibly her brother, the other a William Armstrong. I assume they stayed in Cavan/Ireland, but perhaps emigrated.
Jane was possibly from Drumbo townland Annagelliffe, and possibly born about  1803-1806.
I know there are quite a few Smyth's on the civil registration records from 1845 onwards but it's a needle in a haystack when I have no idea as to if they had children/names or even residence location. I have done a DNA test, so this may also help confirm ancestral links
thanks
Roz
