My great grandmother was Margaret Lizzie O'Callaghan - parents Patrick O'Callaghan and Catherine O'Callaghan, so yes, the second of those marriages is my great great grandparents.

Cork cutter is a good spot.  I think that confirms they are different people.  The fact that one of them is married and the other left everything to his sister also suggests this.

Many thanks for your help.

Obviously, this is a very popular name.

I have found Patrick O'Callaghan from Kanturk (where my ancestors came from) listed as dying on 5th Mar 1894 in Cork District Lunatic Asylum in the Civil Records - married, age 36.

I have also found the probate for Patrick O'Callaghan who died 5th March 1895 in Cork, address given as Blarney Street, Cork.  Beneficiary is his sister Ellen.  His occupation is listed as a cutter - my ancestor came from a family of stone cutters.

The date is the same, but a year apart.  Is this just coincidence or could it be the same person with an explanation why one of the years is incorrect?

Many thanks

Mike

Hi,

Ellen was my great aunt by marriage.  Her husband Garrett Nagle was my grandmother Nano Nagle's older brother.

Do you by any chance have any photos of Garrett and Ellen or other members of the family around that time?

Regards

Mike

This is all great, thank you very much.

I had some of this detail, but much of it is new to me.

Thank you so much.

I'm pretty sure the Helen Nagle who died in Ealing is Ellen Mary Nagle who married John Nagle and they are buried together in Greenford Park cemetery.

I had discounted the Ellen Nagle from Surrey mainly because it was registered a bit too late, however, I have looked into her more carefully and am now pretty sure it's her - born 30th Aug 1912 in Listowel - I have found her family and in particular who I was sure was her sister because she married a 1st cousin of Ellen's husband.  Ellen's marriage certificate should arrive tomorrow, which I am sure will tie it all together.

I have found the probate details of my aunt Ellen Nagle (nee Devereaux) - died 20 Feb 1983 in Selsey, West Sussex.  Probate was granted 14 June 1983.

I can't find her death registered anywhere.  Is there a reason it wouldn't have been registered?

She was almost certainly a Roman Catholic, quite possibly born in Ireland.

Her husband was Garrett Nagle - 16 Oct 1915 (Co. Cork) to 29 Jun 1992 (Selsey).

They were married in 1937 and spent much of their married life in Ealing.

There is a Helen Nagle registered in 1983 in Ealing, but she is buried with John Nagle, another relative of mine, so I have ruled her out.

Thanks for all your help.

It looks like she was Margaret Lizzie and there is a Margaret E who died in Ealing in 1967 aged 75, which ties in with her DoB.  I have ordered the certificate.  It would still be good to find her burial place.

My grandmother, her youngest daughter (Nano Nagle b.1920) aka Nora O'Byrne (married name) d.1993 is buried in Greenford Park Cemetery.

In a single plot in Ealing and Old Brentford Cemetery are buried - Janet Alice Neary (grandaughter), Eileen Elizabeth M. Tansley (grandaughter), Canice Barry Neary (Son-in-law), Canice Neary (grandson), Johanna Neary (daughter).
