Hi all.
My wife has a 1st cousin 1x removed, Reginald Marshall Beaumont-Thomas born 7th Dec 1917 (this date is recorded on his mother's death notice and is the only information that I possess of him)

His Parents were :-
William Richmond Morrice Beaumont-Thomas
born 3 Nov 1883 Barkley West, Cape Town.
died 24 May 1938 Cape Town.

Jane Elizabeth Mary Osborne
born 16 Sep 1885 Cape Town
died 20 Oct 1947 Mowbray Cape Town

I do not have the date/place of their marriage.

I would be grateful for any information whatsoever regarding him, particularly marriage, children and death.

As i live in Penang Malaysia, I am only able to do on-line research.

Kind regards
Keith

Thank you both for the information. I have seen the info on the Mundia site but I was just a bit intrigued when I saw the reference to the book.
I've checked out the link Derek, unfortunately the cheapest copy is way out of my league 696 Malaysian Ringgit is over 2000 SA Rand. I'm not even sure what information it would likely contain.

Perhaps someone who is in possession of the book wouldn't mind looking up the page for me please.

Hi all

My ancestor Cecil Howard Beaumont Thomas is apparently mentioned in the book The South African Nation on page 993 (I obtained this info from a Google search for his name).
Does anyone know if this book is accessible online please?

Kind regards

Warwickshire / Birmingham local government

Hi all
I have reason  believe (from family stories) that Thomas Winkles 1830-1907 was a local councillor in Birmingham in the late 1800's. I have no idea which political party he would have been allied to.

I have all the vital records for him including both his marriages but I would appreciate any help with the local government aspect.

Kind regards

Hi all

I am trying to find any information regarding REGINALD MARSHALL BEAUMONT-THOMAS born 17 November 1917 (date obtained from his mothers’ death notice) unfortunately this is the only information I have for him.

His parents were:-
WILLIAM RICHMOND MORRICE BEAUMONT-THOMAS 1883-1938
JANE ELIZABETH MARY OSBORNE 1885-1947
I don’t have any marriage details for them but I do have copies of both of their death notices & wills.

I have also found reference to a CLAUDE MARSDEN BEAUMONT THOMAS. He died 27 July 1984 (estate number 5925/84 Cape Town). I don’t know whether he fits into out family tree but I would appreciate any information regarding him.

Kind regards

Thank you all for taking the time to respond to my posting. You have certainly given me a lot to be looking in to.

To be honest, I struggle whenever I have research to do in Australia as there dosen't seem to be a central repository, even for simple things like BMD records so thank you all ever so much for the information you have supplied me with.

Australia / Florence Annie Whipp (nee Wilford)

Hi all

My maternal grandmother was DORA WILFORD b. 1901 Rotherham, Yorkshire. d. 1990 Halifax, Yorkshire.

She married CLIFFORD HAYES 1902-1928. Their 4 children were:-
MARY ELIZABETH 1922-1993
FRANK 1923-1988
BARBARA 1925-1997
D. 1927 still living

DORA had several siblings, one of whom was FLORENCE ANNIE WILFORD 1899-????.

FLORENCE married FRED WHIPP 1897-1970 in Halifax, Yorkshire on 23 Dec 1920 (my grandmother was a witness in the Church register).  They had a daughter, WINIFRED born Q2 1921 in Halifax.

They emigrated to Australia sometime after Winfred’s birth.

Fred died in 1970 in Fremantle, Western Australia; I found the record quite easily on Ancestry.co.uk site, however, I cannot find a death record for Florence, can anyone help please?

I am also interested in any information regarding when and on what ship they travelled to Australia and any information regarding other children they may have had.

Kind regards

Warwickshire / Nurses in 1920's Birmingham
« on: Friday 27 July 12 11:41 BST (UK)  »
Hi all
I have a relative BERTIE ALWYN BEAUMONT-THOMAS 1890-1955 born in Cape Town. He came to UK in 1908. He is recorded as living with his aunt HARRIET CUPPLES at 16 Canterbury road Handsworth in the 1911 census, his occupation was recorded as a tailors assistant. He served in the Warwickshire regiment during WW1, I have a copy of his service records.

He married FLORENCE WOOTON (nee HART) in 1922. They had two children, VICTOR EDWARD BEAUMONT-THOMAS 1922-1985 & ALWYN VERNON BEAUMONT-THOMAS 1929-1993.

BERTIE was recorded as still being a tailors assistant on VICTOR EDWARD's birth certificate in 1922 but he later trained as a nursing assistant, I believe, in the mid 20's. He carried on working as a nurse until his death in 1955.

Does anyone know if it is possible to obtain records of the dates of his training and subsequent employment as a nurse. Unfortunately, I have no idea of the names of the hospital(s).

Kind regards

CATZPAW
