The Common Room / Re: Adoption question
« on: Thursday 10 February 11 21:03 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Gill -

We do have his name as her mother was married and separated from her Husband and was cohabiting with her father.
Very confusing and complicated  ??? I have a copy of a letter from the court requesting his presence at the hearing and a hand written letter from him confirming his attendance.  As far as we can make out my mothers biological mother had to prove that her estranged husband was not the father and her 'partner' was.
It is very bizarre as there where two children born of this relationship - 1 stayed with their mother and was given her married name and one adopted  ???

Hi - am helping my mum track her family at present...
She was adopted in 1944, just checked to see if her birth was registered as her pre adopted name and it was?
We have managed to trace most of her family on her biological Mother side, and she is meeting up with her half brother very soon!
However tracing her biological father is proving somewhat more difficult!  ???

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies!  ;D

I have found the link to enoch and Mary - thanks... To be honest my Mum has a look of Mary !!

I dont have any further information than his name and address as of the 14 november 1944. This is when he signed the paperwork and wrote a letter to the courts for my mum's adoption?!
It's so frustrating!!!
However this Henry so far is the one that keeps popping up! I did find a tree that has him as being married - to a Margaret deceased 1988 - and a son Henry deceased 1987? But no mariage cert and cant find one?
Allan - he lived in number 21 at around 1944 - and the paperwork states Henry and my mother's mother cohabbited for approx 3 years prior to this date so that would be 1940/41.
Any info would be great...
Cheers, Louise

Hello Again...

right I am researching relatives for my Mum.

I have found a Cuddy who was born 1901 and died in 1945 aged 43. I am trying to gather as much info as possible and if anyone who has researched this family could help i would be extremely grateful!
I have evidence that the Cuddy I am looking for lived in Garston in December 1944 and the above Cuddy is the only one I can find registered in Liverpool at this time - but he lived in Everton at his time of death in 1945?
Am new to all this and rapidly losing the plot!!!!!

Hi, I am trying to trace a Henry Cuddy. I know he lived in Seddon Road around 1944 and would be aged around 35 - 40 at that time.

Wicklow / Harding's of Lower Newcastle

Hi am needing some help please... ??? ???

I am trying to research relatives from Lower Newcastle.  The details I know are as follows and if anyone can help fill in the gaps I would be extremely grateful.

My grandfather was one Patrick Harding Dob approx 1872 / death 24/03/1930 = he was the sexton in lower newcastle where he lived with his wife Elizabeth Jane Harding (nee Hunt) DOB approx 1878 / death 28/04/1958.
On the 1911 census it is listed they had 5 children , 4 living - Margaret Jane,  William James, Richard Thomas and Anna Mary - however I believe two more children where concieved as their names appear on the death certs - George and Lilly?

My Mother was Anna Mary Harding dob 1909 who married one Robert Bailey - they had four children :

(*) dob 1934

(*) 1935 - believed now deceased

(*)1938 - married and  emigrated to United States

Alan Bailey dod 22/10/1940

At somepoint my mother Anna Bailey put the four named children in a care home callled Mrs Smyly's Homes and Schools in Dublin ?? And she moved to Liverpool.  This was where she had myself and my older brother (*).  I belive that once she had established herself in Liverpool she then brought her children over to to liver with her.

(*) was given the family of Bailey - and I was put up for adoption.  This is why I keep hitting dead ends... I would really like to get in touch with any living relatives and be able to put a name to faces as I never met my mother or siblings  ???
