Thanks for your help everyone. A much belated update - the Westminster marriage was correct and other research shows that Mary was known as Mollie. I have a lot more to do but found that she had sisters in Ireland plus there are links with Glasgow as her father lived there with family so it is all helping build out her branch of the family.  I'd like to follow up more on Charles at some stage too - it was a chance remark about him that led to this new branch.

Thank you Louisa, the shipping record sounds interesting, can you remember which site it was on?

The similar names/dates have been tricky but I ordered a will which has filled in some gaps so have taken the plunge and ordered what I hope is the right marriage record. If it is then it might just help with his wife's family. I don't think he married abroad but anything's possible :)

1939 Frances Mary Blake was born, mother's maiden name Mckinney , is it possible he married abroad?

There is a family tree online with C H Blake , same date of birth but not married to Mary Jane .

Have you looked for a will for either of these 2?

Thank you for looking into it Debra. I probably will go ahead and buy the certificate after a trip to the library. It's been an interesting hunt for them so far, with half-leads and duplicates to still untangle.

Does anyone have access to Who's Who? I'm looking to see what more information it has about Charles Henry Blake (1912 - 1994) and his family.
I am particularly looking for anything that might help with locating his marriage (possibly Westminster) and help to pin down the names/nicknames of his wife - Mary Jane / Jayne / Mollie(?) McKinney.

Sorry, just noticed it's already been posted. The price checker has only just sent through the alert so I thought it was a new reduction.

If you want to save on postage, then Ancestry kits have been reduced to £49 on Amazon - sold by AncestryDNA UK.
