Could somebody do me a 1901 lookup for a wright family in the Ecclesall Bierlow area. Possibly Providence Road, Walkley. Sheffield.

Father Samuel Wright
Wife Mary Jane Wright

there should also be a son Albert, aged approx. 5/6

Hello Carole,

I think you're right, a copy of his birth certificate may be the only way. I also think a visit to the local library is in order.

Is this query in connection with names on War Memorials etc?
Yes it is, he was KIA in 1916. The reason for my renewed interest in this man is .....

A school girl had gone to the battlefields with her school and chose Mark Tomlinson Gregory's grave to place a remembrance cross because his didn't have one. Her mother contacted me, asking if I had details on him.

Cheers

Robert.

Hello, I cannot find Mark Tomlinson Gregory on the 1901 census. Other people have tried as well, without success.

He was born in Sheffield 1895. so he would have been 5 or 6 when the census was taken.

I don't know the identity of his parents, but I think they could be this pair
from freebmd
Marriages Dec 1896
Gregory William Sheffield 9c 726
Tomlinson Rose Ann Sheffield 9c 726

Can anybody help?

This is my brick wall at the moment

cheers Robert.

Hello Ady,

Its definitely a T, but with the errors I have found so far, it might have been a J. What about spelling it Burch?

Could you also confirm that this man has a Sheffield connection - William Wadsworth, service no. 39410, Royal Field Artillery.

Cheers

Robert.

Thanks for the lookup. Unfortunately I cannot identify him. He is remembered on a local memorial as "Gunner Birch T" below R.F.A.
However the regiments listed on this memorial have been very hit & miss.

Hello :)

I am trying to identify Thomas Birch, possibly in the Royal Field Artillery, with a Sheffield connection. Could somebody do me a SDGW lookup please.

Thanks in advance
