Hi all,

Thanks for all the info you have given me. Will look into getting a copy of his death certificate and hopefully it will shed a light on some things about him.

I cant believe you actually found his death date and also the funeral notice!

Thanks again everyone, Gaye

Hi there,

Walter William Archer (my grandfather) was born 2 Feb 1905 in Ashfield NSW. In the 1930's he lived in Corowa, got married (not to my grandmother). 1937 is the last year I can find any info on him  until his death in 1969 in St Leonards, NSW. I was wondering if anyone can help with any info on him particularly his death date and which cemetery he is buried/cremated in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Gaye

Hi Kay

Thanks for the info, I did actually come across Annie Jane Wood in my search but couldn't find any sons, so I dismissed that. An elderly aunt of mine told me that her grandfather, James had remarried and had 2 sons, but she could have meant that his new wife had 2 sons from a previous marriage.

Also might explain why I could only find 1911 census for Elsie & Hilda living with the Rennard family and nothing on Benjamin, maybe James & Annie didn't want the girls but kept Benjamin.

The census for James & Benjamin looks right because the ages match up with my records.

Thanks so much for your help, I think you have cleared up a few of my headaches I get when looking up info on this side of my tree lol  ;D

Thanks again
Gaye

Yorkshire (West Riding) / James Baines Family

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone can help.

My great grandfather James Baines born January 1871 in Bradford, Yorkshire, he married Mary Ann Anker (my great grandmother) in 1895 and they had 3 children, Elsie, Hilda (my grandmother) & Benjamin. In 1903 Mary Ann died aged 29. Around 1905 James remarried but his new wife did not want his children, so they gave them away. James & his wife went on to have 2 sons.

My problem is I can't find any info on his new wife's name or the names of their 2 sons, when they married etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Gaye.

I think Catherine had to wait the requisite 7 years before remarriage, that's why she married Corcoran in 1867. Theodore's gaol record should be available, but I am a bit unsure whereto look for it. He should, that is if he didn't sail as crew, be listed also on outward passenger lists. ;)

Actually I think you will find that nothing extraordinary is used to dig out these records. Persistence, experience and willingness are the main requisites. Along with the amazing resources available from years of experienced Chatters that have been placed on the Australia Resource section. :P

Great to see we have helped a little.
Did you ever get your first question answered re Baines? ???

Neil ;D

Hi Neil

The Baines side is another one of my headaches :(. I will put a post up, but a lot of info I need would have to be from England
