Thank you Sandra!

I did happen to find some military info but not sure if it would be helpful. I was hoping his marriage cert to Alice A. Bontz would show who his parents were.

•Marine Corps 1887-1892

United States of America / Help with Brooke Family
« on: Monday 19 March 12 21:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm looking for an ancestor who was part of the Rough Riders.

James Hunter Brooke b. 1872 Brookeville, VA d. 1942 Washington D.C. He married Alice Bontz b. 1888 D.C. -1969 Maryland. They were married 25 Feb 1906 and lived/resided in d.c area. Looking for any information on his parents birth dates and where they were born. Hoping to have connections on the forum! Tammy

Thank you for the information!

Yes, Jakob is the starting point and you are right since the manifests don't clearly state his location I don't know how to find that out to guide me to the right direction.  The ellis island link you posted appears to be him though I don't have his first visit to the US.  They all say us citizen. I think I did find  him returning to the US in 25 Sep 1925 at the age of 56.
With the Orkwis side I'm still having issues to. For our great great grandfather Frank Orkwis, I've contacted, Luzerne county in Duryea Pa and they could not find his naturalization papers.  They did find a marriage certificate but listed N/A for all his information except name.  Then I decided to contact the united states immigration department.  They searched and found NO naturalization papers for him either.  The only information I found was a social security number but the social security department found a short form and I can't make out his mothers maiden name.  I contacted polish archives, they responded back but haven't heard anything since.  At this point for Frank Orkwis, I have no other ideas on where to look.  I am trying to get to a LDS location to order so Poland records but not sure if I would have any luck.

I do appreciate you reading my post and know that I have researched and researched trying to find any possible links.

For Giuseppe this is what I got so far. I couldn't make out what he died of or the last part for the date.

The undersigned Mayor's delegate for the investigation of deaths in the Parish of Casarza Liguire
Relates that he personally found that Solar Joseph, died of ????????? , the son of the late Giuseppe Solari and Maria Stagnaro, 63 years resident in Casarza Liguire and died

Hoping someone could help me figure out what the spelling of Frank Orkwis mother's maiden name was. It looks like "Gatherin" "Catherin" or "Latherin"? I believe she was from Poland as well.
