Does anyone know anything about the Poots family of Co. Down?
Also, does anyone know how they are related to the Crane family? Family trees and dates will especially be useful. I have already been on the surnames of co. down freewebs website but i don't know how any of them are related to me, only that my great grandmother was Martha Poots! Please help! 8)

Tyrone / Baxter family
« on: Wednesday 27 April 05 20:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm looking for information on my Baxter family links to Tyrone. I know that my gggrandparents Robert Baxter married to Jane Henderson moved to Co. Tyrone in the early 1900's, probably with their children Maria, Mary, Kyle and Robert. They came from Glasgow originally (Lanark) but may have moved to Wigtownshire before moving to Ireland. Jane Henderson's parents may also have moved from Scotland to Tyrone. Their names were Issac Henderson and Mary Williamson.
I also know that there is some link to the name Wilson, although I don't know what it is. The three sisters 'Gertie, Lucy and Mable' seem to be cousins or something. I'd like to sind out more about this too.
Can anyone help?

Thanx for the info. I know that they had links to Co. Tyrone so that seems to match up. Was Jane listed as one of their children? I didn't see her on the list.
Again, thanx for looking that up! :D

Hi,
I am looking for information on my great great great grandparent and their parents. My gggrandparents were Robert Baxter and Jane Henderson who married in 1892. They married at 46, St. Vincent crescent.

Robert Baxter's parents were Robert Baxter and Jane Hamilton. He lived at 1, Hope street, Glasgow.

Jane Henderson's parents were Isaac(?) Henderson and Mary or May Williamson. She lived at 9, Grace(?) street, Glasgow.

I would love some more info on all these people, especially the latter two. They don't appear to be in any records that I have searched, but I suppose that doesn't mean they are not there somwhere.

Can anyone please help?

Lanarkshire / Re: Hannah Armstrong

Try the www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk website. It worked for me and I looked up Hannah Armstrong with 5 results for Lanarkshire. It costs about 20p a lookup but it's worth it.

P.S. I know this isn't really related to your search, but I just thought it was a strange coincidence that I have a freind called Hannah Armstrong and her sister is called Evelyn! Lol... :)

Thanx 4 replying,
I can answer a few of these questions without further research. I know that he was adopted from an orphanage but not by a family member. I believe that he married Maggie in the mid to late 1920's, in Lisburn (with a big ?). He definately had some sort of link to Lisburn and his wife's mother's family came from there. I believe that they were Presbyterian. He died in Lisburn and this was in the 1980's (between 1983 and 1988). I know he was in the army but I don't know what regiment, though I could probably find out. Peoples was his birth name, but the spelling may vary.
I'll check out the URL
