Dumfriesshire / Re: Deaths, Annan area, FARISH - COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 28 June 11 10:13 BST (UK)  »
Came across this thread today, I have for sometime been trying to find details of my G/G/grandmothers family who were Farish's and came from Annan.  Her name was Esther her father I believe was William and mother was Esther.  They and family in 1811 lived in Burgh South Side.  Just wondered as you are researching Farish's whether you have come across this family.

Hi Ruskie,
Thanks for all the information you have supplied, seems to fit in my g/grandmother presumably being the Esther shown as a child in the family.
I know nothing about this side of the family so hopefully will go on from here.
Thanks again maybe as you say some other Farish relation may get in touch.

Sometime ago I had information from somewhere that what could be the family were living in 177 Burgh South Side Annan in 1811 and 1821 in 217 Windmill.  Peter never seems to be around, the only Peter Davis I could ever find was actually born along the coast in Whithorn and I believe the same one died in Mile End in London, other than that presumably he was a sea most of the time.  I have never been on Scotands People although I do keep threatening to go th the Records Office but never get there as i live in Southern England no excuse I know.

Once again I was told some time ago that Farish was a sett of Ferguson but the Clan records do not confirm this.

 Hi
Good to hear from you.  I know very little about G/Grandmothers family apart from the fact her mother Margaret Copeland was born about 1811, my G/Grandmother was one of seven children I believe who married and lived in Carlisle after marrying James Mitchell from Fife.  I actually live in southern England and keep threatening to go to the Scottish Records Office to try and find out more but never seem to get there.  If there are that many Raineys it may be easier looking for the proverable needle.

Thanks for the interest though.

Yep sorry about the lack of detail she was born in Annan about 1800 and I believe got married to Peter Davis in 1821 in Annan, during the mid 19th century she moved with her family to Carlisle where she died the date I dont know.  I should say also she was my G/G/Grandmother.

My G/Grandmothers family came from the Dailly area possibly by way of Ireland.  The family name I know was Rennie although that might have been Rainey at some time.  My G/G/Grandmothers name I believe was Margaret Copeland.  I also believe the family may have had connections in the Ardrossan area as well. G/Grandmother died in Carlisle.
