thank you again for all the info food for thought & perhaps clues to follow.  Thomas & Charlotte seem to disappear after 1841 as I've had a look at 1851 - no sign of them.  One step forward two back!!

thank you so much - I can rule Ann out as a sister then as I am looking for father James Murray a carpenter, father of my William & father of Mary to John Busby.  Having said that Ann could be related as she also gives Windmill Street as address.

Good morning all
Following on from my previous post about this family & the very helpful information provided I am unfortunately still not able to pinpoint them as to parents or where in Scotland they came from.
The marriage of Mary Murray to John Busby gives her addreaa as Windmill Street in St James Piccadilly Westminster 15th August 1841 as does Ann Murray in 1838.
Mary Murray (Busby) unhelpfully only gives birthplace Scotland about 1819 through the census.
I am unable to see the marriage of Ann (my ancestry subscription is basic) but I think it might be to a Charles Williams. However if that is correct I cannot find then in Census.
I was also given the information of Thomas Murray marrying Charlotte Cairns 17 July 1836. I found them in 1841. Thomas born 1816 Scotland but no sign of the in 1851.
I was hoping to find Ann Murray in 1841 at Windmill Street or any Murray family there but no luck.
I would appreciate any further help to with this brick wall.
Many thanks

thank you so much both.  I was hoping it would be a parish register as my Murray clan are proving very difficult to put together.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Thomas Murray marriage to Charlotte Cairns

Could SKS lookup the marriage of Thomas Murray to Charlotte Cairns 17 July 1836 St James Piccadilly for me please. It tantalisingly comes up in ancestry but my subscription doesn't allow me to view the details. Particularly the address of Thomas & witnesses & confirmation of James Murray carpenter as the father
Many thanks

thank you Debra - I have Susannah all the way through - It's William who is the nightmare.  I've taken a quick look in Scotland & can see it's not going to get any easier but that's the nature of Family History - one step forward & 2 back.

London and Middlesex / William Murray 1841 census
« on: Friday 05 May 23 11:21 BST (UK)  »
Good morning
Looking at the 1841 census for William Murray born 1816 on ancestry I am unable to decide if he was born in Ireland or Scotland.  He married Susannah Gibson 1837 in St James Westminster. William was a tailor & his father (from the marriage) was James Murray a carpenter.  On the 1841 census the couple are transcibed as Willm & Susan with their baby son Chas in St Marylebone.  Even reading the instructions I am unable to work out how to do the link for you.  It just does not work for me.  My apologies.
I am hoping someone with better eyes than me can find it so that at least I can narrow down where to look for my William.
Many thanks in advance
Sonia
