Hi Wivenhoe,
I received that information from other researchers doing the Hudson family tree,
findmypast has a transcription of their marriage.

It doesn't say her birthdate but it says late of Glasgow LKS.

On her death certificate in 1907 her age is stated 83 and she was married at 16.
On her father death record her brother has stated her age as 30.

I have been in contact with a couple of the Wallace/Wallis family, who have been trying to trace the dates of the Wallace/Wallis children without success

My branch from the Eliza and Joseph Hudson is from Thomas

Aileen.

Thank you for your reply,Christine,

After rereading my request for Eliza , I have written her parents were Thomas and Christina Campbell, which should have read parents Thomas Wallace/Wallis and Christina Campbell.

This could be the Eliza from Glasgow, is there any more information on the record you have found?
From all the other researchers on the family no one has mentioned the Wallace's in England.

Need help in find a birth record for Eliza Wallace/Wallis who stated on her marriage record that her birth was 29 July 1824 in Glasgow, she was my Great great grandmother.

She was the daughter of Thomas and Christina Campbell who arrived in Hobart Tasmania in 1833 from Dublin Ireland, Thomas was a stonemason ,  and later made their way to Adelaide South Australia where she married Joseph Hudson.

I have looked in Peoples Scotland for the family ,but couldn't find them.
Would love some help.

A big thank you to Malky and GR2 for their replies.

Knowing that these names are interchangeable will make researching so much easier.

Caithness / Finding the Birth and Death of William Clark/Clarke
« on: Friday 06 June 14 07:35 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find the birth and death of William Clark

He is the youngest brother of my mother in law.

I found him in the 1901 census born 1900
His parents were Sinclair Clark, Jessie Gunn, Lybster Caithness.
His name was never mention by my mother in-law, she emigrated to Australia in the mid 1930's.
She spoke every little about her family back in Scotland ,

I have all the dates and names of her other sisters and brothers.

Any help would be welcomed.

I am researching my husbands Scottish parents as well as my own grandmothers side.

I have come across my father in-laws mother christian name Jane Balfour, have her marriage record and her death which both state Jane, was not able to find her birth until I found her in the Family Search as Jean Balfour her birth date is the same as Jane. The parents correspond to the names on the marriage record also the occupation corresponds with the 1871 census.
Would I be right in presuming Jane/Jean Balfour is the same person.

The next name query is for Jessie, my gg aunt was born in Australia and registered as Jessie, when she married her christian name was Janet she died under the name Janet , on some of her children's records her name is Janet with Jessie in brackets.

I have also come across this in other Scottish families I have been researching Jessie becomes Janet.

Hi Aileen

Only about a third of events were entered in the Parish Registers around this time, before the start of official registration in Scotland from 1855. It may be that the family had moved away from that particular area after George was born and records for elsewhere were not so good. Also, registers have been lost and destroyed over time.

Always hard to tell why there are gaps in the registers, ie, why you can find one birth but not others, as records in this period were patchy in general.

Monica
Thank you for the explanation,I guess I was lucky to have found George's baptism and his parents marriage.

Hi Aileen,
FreeREG has pretty good coverage of  Eddrachillis Records in that time-frame but no Jemima/Margaret.
Georges Baptism is there and the Marriage 1830.

Trish :)
Thank you for your reply, That is where I found George's Baptism and parents marriage.

My husband's grandmother was Jane Balfour born1866 ?where she marred David Trail Young 4 September 1891 Church of Scotland Edinburgh he was born June 27 1870 in Scoonie and died October 7 1951 in Iverleven Methel.

Jane died December 10 1923 in Iverleven Methel.

I have never been able to find anything on Jane's side of the family.
My husband was born in Australia and knows very little about his Scottish relations.
