Hi this is a reply for Vicki Hossack, sorry for the late reply Vicki, regarding the communion table. Spoke to the Orkney museum, however they were not interested in the table, and it lay in my garage for ages. Just asked about it last week, when I read your posts, and it seems my brother has sold it to some bloke in London. Its going to be a feature in his kitchen.!....Was reading gale MacLeod's post as well regarding Hugh's brother Robert Campbell, that's my middle and surname!. Wish I was better at operating things on this site, but find it very difficult, but take and thanks.

William Tait (Willum) was a well known person in Cruden Bay, a real old character, I remember him in the early 50s telling me stories about the sea, there is a relation I think still living next door to his old house in harbour street, his name is Willie also.

WW1 In Memoriam / Re: Private David Dickson Killed in action age about 16.

There's an article in the Dundee Courier of 9 September 1916 about David Gordon Dickson of Dunfermline, killed in action on 18 August at the age of 16, after running away from home to join the army and misrepresenting his age.

He served with the Gordon Highlanders and was the son of David James Dickson, 121 Chalmers Street.
..Hello many thanks for your help,it  was very good of you.

WW1 In Memoriam / Private David Dickson Killed in action age about 16.
« on: Thursday 14 August 14 13:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I was reading an article in last weeks Sun Newspaper. It had a picture of Barbara Dickson the singer, she was holding a photograph of her cousin David Dickson. David had gave a false age when he had enlisted in the 1st war, and he was killed in action aged just 16 or 17. I emailed Barbara because I had the exact same photograph, and wondered if were  perhaps related in any way. I am not to great with computers, and wonder if perhaps anyone can tell me anything more about David. Thanks for your help.

Hi, its only a guess but Tryst Road is only a stones throw away from the Hospital, so it may well have been your grandfather. I went to piano lessons with an old lady (against my will), in Tryst road about 50 years ago but cant remember her name. There also used to be loads of foundries in this area but all closed now.
