Durham Lookup Requests / Re: St. Cuthberts Darlington marriage Fleetham-Handy

Yes these two children do indeed look like belonging to my couple, particularly as Mary was recorded as born in Evenwood in later census records and I had found no children between the marriage in 1807 and later children born from 1814 onwards.

Excellent stuff.  Many thanks.

Durham Lookup Requests / St. Cuthberts Darlington marriage Fleetham-Handy
« on: Tuesday 04 October 11 13:38 BST (UK)  »
According to an IGI entry Thomas Fleetham married Mary Handy on 5 Dec 1807 at St. Cuthberts, Darlington, Co. Durham.  I have lots of info on Thomas Fleetham but can find nothing on the birth of Mary Handy.  However, there is a baptism for Mary Hardy at St. Cuthberts on 29 Sep 1782.  Is it possible that dubious handwriting in the marriage register has been mis-transcribed and that Mary Handy is actually Mary Hardy.

Can some kind soul please look up the marriage register and check the clarity of the names.

Many thanks

Have you followed the line of Ann Ord.  Her parents were John Ord and Margaret Fleetham.  I am descended from the elder brother of Margaret - Michael Fleetham.  I have colllated some information on the Batey line but would love to fill in the gaps.

There is a Jane Marwood christened in Brompton by Northallerton, Yorkshire on 26 April 1831 in the IGI database.  Her parents are Henry Marwood and Ann Foggin.  She is in the 1841 census in Brompton aged 10 and in the 1851 census in Darlington aged 19.  Nothing thereafter.  She might have emigrated, but the rest of her family are in Yorkshire in 1861 and 1871

hello - if your researching the fleetham tree my wife has been researching this for a while now - has a very big tree line mostly from around the village of morden / sedgefield co. durham
Has your wife come across Michael Fleetham born 1816 in Darlington to parents Thomas Fleetham and Mary Handy.  I am descended from him but can trace backwards any further than Thomas.  Any info would be much appreciated.

Mary Agnes married John Lee in 1903.  She then married William Henry Underwood (my grandfather) in Darlington in Dec qtr 1912 (ref 10a 20).
I have the census entries for Anthony and Michael but could not find them in 1851

Sorry, I cannot help with the father of Elsie.  However, Elizabeth is the sister of my grandmother Agnes Maud born 1879.  I have Elizabeth in the 1901 census as a housemaid at the vicarage in Gilling in Yorkshire.  She married Arthur Wensley Burton in 1904 in Darlington and died in Seaton Delaval in 1962.

Have you traced the ancestors of Elizabeth.  I habe Anthony born 1850, his father Michael born 1816, and his father Thomas.  If you have anything at all on them I would much appreciate it.
