Thank you all for your reply,
I'm in Australia & is why it has taken so long to get back to you. Also the reasons for not having a clue where the place is that was given for Anne's mother on her embarkation record.
I wonder if the place could be Savary, Morvern, it may have a spelling of Savare on the document ?
Anne's husband Donald McPherson's father (Allan) had a farm at Morvern in 1838, from his embarkation record.
I have uploaded the full ships embarkation record (28 Oct 1838) for my McPherson family as they were written by the same hand, it might help.
It seems from marriage & death records of the family, here in Australia, that the family lived around Argyllshire.
Donald McPherson (1790 – 1876) death certificate lists his place of birth as Argyllshire, Scotland. Parents: Allan McPherson & Sarah McGregor.
Anne McPherson 'nee Henderson (1796 – 1865) death certificate lists her place of birth as Kilchoan, Argyllshire, Scotland (thanks for helping with that one). Parents: Alexander Henderson & Ann McCall.
Donald McPherson & Anne Henderson (as yet no record found) were married about 1817 at Kilchoan, Argyllshire Scotland. Taken from both the death certificates of Anne & Donald McPherson.
Most of their children's death certificates list place of birth as Argyllshire. Son Allan's birth place (on death certificate) is listed as Inverness, Argyllshire.
As the family arrived in Australia before 1841 it makes it hard to workout any of the parents from census records & don't know/found any of their siblings.
Thank you all, once again for your help - hopefully I can find the rest of my McPherson family if I can sort this place name out.
Regards
Gwenneth
