Lancashire / Marriage Bonds for Amnounderness pre 1722
« on: Tuesday 15 February 11 14:50 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know how to access the Marriage  Bonds pre 1722 for Amounderness ?.The Lancashire and Cheshire Records Society Volume 75 does the Marriage Bonds for 1722 onwards, but tthe previous Volume 74 excludes Amounderness and only does Lonsdale and more Northerly areas.

Any clues out there ?

Thanks .... I've found him in Lancaster Gaol in 1841 census,it was logical really, but thanks for those who helped put me the right way.Interestingly, cant find him listed on Ancestry in the Gaol, but on the census discs he's visible.

Lancashire / Thomas Hardiker-which Gaol on 1841 census night?

Can anybody work out this conundrum.Thomas Hardiker was imprisoned in late January 1841 and I cant find him in the 1841 census on Ancestry, when his family are in Claughton, north of Preston,Lancs.Which jails would there have been in 1841 near Preston and Lancaster ? Should I trawl through the Prisons looking for him mis-named ? Could he have been imprisoned outside of Lancashire?By the 1851 census he was living back in Claughton.

Hi Barbara,
Thankyou so much for a thoroughly done assist !!It helps me greatly.I'm very envious of you having a local library with such information, the [currently] wet, grey East Midlands doesn't have such resources for us Lancastrians.Thankyou.

Lancashire / Re: Joseph Mc Corry in Preston in 1851 [+/-1841] Census

Hi Mo,Sue and John,

Thanks for you replies, which are very helpful....though they raise some rather interesting possibilities about ones genes...If the All Saints,Preston registers on Lancs OPC are to be believed, It could be that this Joseph McCurry/Mc Corry had a child with one woman in Preston [Ellen Hall],whilst married to another [elizabeth ]his wife.Scandallous.

I'm trying to find a Joseph McCorry in the Church St area of Preston in the 1851 census.Does any kind person have access to indexes to look for him.In Oct 1851 he is named as the father of an illegitimate child in the newly released All Saints,Preston records on Lancashire OPC.I cannot find him listed in the Paperback indexes produced by M & L FHS.In the All Saints records he is listed as an Omnibus Guard.

Lancashire / 1696 Lancashire Association Oath Rolls
« on: Saturday 19 April 08 09:07 BST (UK)  »
I've got a copy of Wallace Gandy's 1696 Lancashire Association Oath Rolls produced by the Society Of Genealogists in 1985...but [crucially for me] it doesn't contain the Hundreds od Amounderness and Blackburn.Does anyone know if these are available in print anywhere,or they only found at the Lancashire Records Office at Preston ??
