Antrim / Re: Thomas Nathaniel Fennel Hobson - Larne, Ireland

My records show Thomas Nathaniel Fennel Hobson (1909 - 1941) was one of 4 sons of Nathaniel James Fennell Hobson (1882 - 1918) and Elizabeth Mary Hobson (1885 - 1966).  He died on HMS Breconshire as shown.  I think years may be 1 out due to the different dates of the recording for census records.  The youngest son of the 4 was Cecil Arthur Hobson (1918 - 1991) and Cecil Arthur Hobson was my father.  Thomas Nathaniel Fennel Hobson's wife was Margaret Enid Jones as shown, but from my knowledge they had a daughter who married a Butterworth, but I do not have any dates or any more details of this.  Does anybody out there have any more information on the daughter?  Thanks.

Hi Brian

I would be interested in attending the RMS Leinster Centenary commemoration in 2018.

I live in Cumbria and I am moving house (still in Cumbria) at the end of January so I will leave contact details when I know post codes, phone numbers, email address, etc then.

Hi Brian
Thank you for your reply - that is very interesting.
I googled and have read the tombstone inscriptions at Dunlekney Cemetery.  Something to put on my list to do and go and see when I next visit Ireland.

Lieutenant Nathaniel James Fennell Hobson, 5 Battalion King's Liverpool Regiment.
You wanted to know of any family members lost with the above on the sinking of the RMS Leinster.
I'm sorry this is all a bit delayed but I have just joined rootschat and noticed the post.  You may have the answer by now!
He was travelling with his 10 year old son Richard and his sister Lily and they both died.   Nathaniel Hobson was my grandfather although obviously I never knew him.  One of his four sons Cecil was my father and he was only 3 months old when Nathaniel died.  So he really never knew him either.  My father died in 1991.
If you need any more info please let me know and I will try to assist!
