Hi Rich
Firstly let me say it's good to finally have contact with a fellow searcher who has a family connection. I have completed my family tree back to 1650 on all fronts but the McCabe's. I have a lot of info I can share with you collected over the years, photos of Thomas too. John and Anne's parents are when the story really got sketchy.
I had an Irish genealogist look into John McCabe and Anne Clinton, we found their marriage
In Rathcoffey, Clane, like you said. He was living in Castlebrown at the time and was a farm labourer, she signed with an X.
In case there's problems with attachments, maybe best to communicate directly on email my address is (*). Spelt to avoid detection.
BTW
Thomas is also my great grandfather, so that makes me your wife's cousins! I'm guessing that the name Barnard comes into to wife's family tree?
My mother, who is  now 95, is [Moderator edit: name of living person redacted to protect personal privacy], (Maggie McCabes daughter) she use to hangout with Theresa and Keith Barnard before the war, I think my Dad's band may have played at the Downs Hotel in Babbecombe in 1938. Ring any bells?
Plenty to share I think Rich. Drop me an email and I'll dust off a few folders to remind myself where I got up to with our shared ancestors.
Cheers
Neil

John Tanner  was married Susanna Mitchell on May 14 1780 at St Gluvius church in Penryn, Cornwall. They had a son called John Smith Tanner who was married (to Elizabeth Jose) at the same church in 1803.
I am intersted in who John Tanner's parents and grand parents were and how many children he had and where/when he died?

Is this the same John Tanner as the one born in Beckley, Sussex in 1755?

Hi Neil

Don't search for the ship, search for the man.... it will give you all the ships on which he served, not just Ariadne.

Go to DocumentsOnline, advanced search, type in Samuel Edward Phillips and you should get a page that looks like this...
