Thanks again Monica,
The information you have provided has really helped.
Since I first posted I have been able to locate through SP the Last Will and Testament and Inventory of Estate of William Young Senior.
According to this he died at Eildon Cottage on the 13th Feb 1856. The will is dated 1850.
In the Will it names the trustees as Jess Linton or Young, his wife; Thomas Young tenant in Cowndenknows Mains; James Young, (William's nephew and Thomas' eldest son), a famer from Kiel near Newcastle in Country of Stafford; John Linton, tenant in Eastfield; and John Fairbain, tenant in Grizzlefield.
However in the inventory of the estate, dated March 1856, only Jessie Young, Thomas Young and James Young are named as the trustees so I am assuming that John Linton and John Fairbain passed away or moved away.
I am not sure if I have spelt some of the names right as the Will is hard to read in places.
After finding the Will I was able to find the Birth and Baptism records for William Young Senior and Thomas Young which states that their father is Robert Young.
I also have William Young Senior's death certificate which gives his mother as Agnes Young nee Potts. So this opens up a whole new arm of the family tree.
I am not sure sure where Jessie comes from either. That it something I would be interested in finding out. Using the dates I have I've now got a copy of Janet/Jessie's birth and baptism which names her as Janet and her mother as Susan and father John Linton.
However the 1861 census names her as Jessie Young and that is what she is referred to throughout William's Will and inventory.
With relation to Janet/Jessi's mother Susan. I have just located her the record of her death through SP with states she also died at Eildon Cottage in November 1862 in District of Melrose, County Roxburgh.
Ultimately I am hoping to learn more about the farms they owned/leased (the will references plural - farms so I am assuming there is more than one). This is something I know would interest my Dad since we're a farming family here in Australia.
Once again thank you for all your help
