Hi, have been through our paperwork and can't find a sister Elizabeth Spencer. Humphrey was born in 1796 and had brothers and sisters thus. Edward 1798. Hannah 1800 Elinor 1802 Margaret 1804 Martha 1807 Priscilla Priscilla 1809 John 1811.  We have never found any other children so would be good if you had further info. We can go back to humphrey's father William 1748/9  but can't find his birthplace. Some time ago I researched Susannah Perry but can't locate it at the mo. Will study your info more thoroughly later. Thanks a lot

Hi arranroots, sorry if I have used anyone but we have spentyears looking for a lead as to who the lady was. Because we didn't know we were basically at a standstill. Was that an example saying Elizabeth Jennings or was that correct? Over the years we have asked Hugh Denham the author of the local book if he knew but no luck! Regards

Hi Arronroots, we definitely know it was Woodmancote Nr Cheltenham and have all relevant info. We are looking to find who he went to America with as after many years of searching we have been shown his death certificate in America. He left Woodmancote with an unnamed lady about the turn of the century. Cheers

Bravo, you are really getting into the Spencer family! Elizabeth moved to Surrey with the youngest Harold and all the others were split up to relatives. Some went to Pool Mill Hereford with the maternal grandmother, my husbands father being one of them!  We have most of your info but quite often something pops up which we didn't know! Merlin was brought up as a brother to my husbands father, he was a child of a maiden aunt, often talked about but only found out the relationship relatively recently

Sorry was thinking you could read all my replies! Duh! Mary born 6.12.1864 if census I was sent are correct in 1900 she says she was born apr.1857 so wonder if shelleyesq is on the wrong track with the family I was sent right through to 1930! I feel that if we could establish definitely the name of his travelling companion it would be much better! Please let me know if there is anything else that would help. Thanks Janet
