Merionethshire / Re: Margaret Williams Llanaber 1858

Margaret was born 17 Feb 1834 in Llanaber. Her parents were David (1807) and Gwen (1808) Williams also born in Llanaber.

The last census I show her in was 1851 where she was working for Peter Mawsdley in Bala at the age of 17 at says her place of birth was Dolgelly.  In 1841 it shows her living with her parents and siblings in Llanaber at the age of 7.

I thought perhaps she might still be alive in the 1861 census as a servant and see two women in Caernarvonshireboth servants born in 1833 and 1835 that may be her. One says she was born in Dolgelly and the other one says Merionethshire.

I am trying to think of scenarios where Margaret if she didn't die, where did she go and why didn't she take my second great grandmother with her.

Thank you! I will order the death certificates first and if it is not her, I will look at the marriages.

Merionethshire / Margaret Williams Llanaber 1858

I am researching my third great grandmother Margaret Williams. She was born in 1834 and might have died between February and March 1858 in Llanaber. The last census she was in was 1851 as a servant and by 1861 she has disappeared.

She had a child out of wedlock and the grandparents raised her daughter according to census records 1861-1881. Would anyone be able to search the Llanaber churchyard for her grave?

I do believe you may have found it Wilcoxon. Thank you! Knowing that other family members from the same line in the late 1880's were living there makes me think Rowland Morgan was living there at the time of his first marriage to Elizabeth Richard.

Wilcoxon,

Yes. So far, all of my maternal grandmother's side comes from Llanaber, Merioneth, Wales.

Thanks for the link.

Merionethshire / Rowland Morgan in Llanaber

Today at the Salt Lake genealogy library, I found my ancestor Rowland Morgan married first to Elizabeth Richard in 1750 and again to my direct ancestor Margaret/Mary David in 1754 both in Llanaber.

I tried looking for both in the Llanaber baptism records cir 1730 with no luck and went back another ten years still with no luck.

I have tried looking on ancestry.com and familysearch.org with no luck. Any suggestions on where to look next? On the marriage record for Rowland and Elizabeth, it shows Rowland Morgan of C-----ou? the hand writing is difficult to read and I have gone so far as to try and locate the town without much luck.
