West Lothian (Linlithgowshire) / John and Elisabeth McInlay Campbell Family of Uphall
« on: Tuesday 17 February 15 00:13 GMT (UK)  »
I do think I have linked this family to my Elizabeth/Elisabeth Campbell Galloway married Thomas Galloway in Stirling in 1807.

I have found John and Elisabeth McInlay Campbell  Uphall
Children:
Robert 1781
Elisabeth 1783
John  1786
George  1788
Archibald 1790
Blair  1792
Marion  1794
Alison  1797
John 1802

Marion might have married a James Halden..but I am not sure

I have found a death record for a George Campbell  June 20, 1847 no age, died in Broxburn, interred in Uphall. I did fine a George Campbell on the 1841 census in Uphall, a fiddler, age 53. Other name on census was a Jemima Campbell, 66.

Just wondering if anyone has this family in their tree, any more info on them - especially John and Elisabeth (like what was John's occupation and parents name for both he and Elisabeth) and maybe what cemetery George or maybe more of the Campbells would be buried in?

Thanks for any help on this!

Armagh / Re: Trainor's Bar (Pub) in Aghinlig, Armagh
« on: Monday 19 April 10 21:42 BST (UK)  »
I was taking a very wild guess about the family name of Trainor! I recently saw my Great Grandparents marriage record and learned their father's names and where my Great grandmother lived at that time...in Aghinlig. I did a search on that area and a site came up that had Traynor/ Trainor's Pub in it.
My Grandfather was born in 1881 in Drumgrannon, Tyrone. In the 1901 census he was in the Army and headed off to the Boer War. He desserted at some point, changed his name from Taylor to Trainor, ended up in or near Simonstown, South Africa, met my Grandmother (she lived there with her family), around 1909 her Mother brought all 8 children back to Clydebank, Scotland...minus her husband, my Grandfather eventually followed and they married in March of 1910. By the time the Queen pardoned everyone it was too expensive to change 5 people's last names...so it stayed Trainor.

So not knowing why he picked the name "Trainor" my wild guessing was if the pub had been around when he was a young lad in Ireland (his family moved to England about mid 1890's) and he went to that town maybe to visit his Grandparents, maybe knew the "Trainor's....etc etc  :) But since you said the pub was not around at that time...there goes my guess!  :)

Sounds like interesting history for you though and if you think about it at a later date after you have been there..sure I would love to hear and see what you found!  Seems the Armagh and Tyrone areas there are close by. I know my Grandfather's sister (the third child) was born at St James, Moy, Tyrone/Armagh..they had both counties on the baptism record. I have found a photo of that old church...no longer used. I am going to assume my Grandfather and his brother were also baptized there. The address on both records for where they lived was Drumgrannon. I know they were on a farm. My Great Grandparents were William Thomas and Mary Ann Simpson Taylor. She was a School Teacher, he was a Farmer and Land Bailiff for Lord Charlemont...a whole other story there and why they left for England! Seems William's father, Robert Taylor, was also a Bailiff. Mary Ann's father was a John Simpson and a Farmer.
If you happen to run across the Drumgrannon area and could take some photos that would be awesome.

Keep in touch,
Karen

How and where do I order those records?

How much do they cost?

What information would be on them...especially looking for parents names...would they be on the records?

Thanks

I just did a search on Familysearcg and found these children of Robert and Jemima Jane Hall Taylor:

William George Taylor   17 March, 1866  Tyrone
Richard Robinson Taylor  14 April, 1868  Tyrone
Thomas Charles Taylor   14 March, 1870  Antrim
Jemima Taylor  13 May, 1873  Antrim
Martha Jane Taylor  27 May, 1871  Antrim

Still not sure how they fit into my family..maybe they don't but maybe someone else can use the information!

Thanks Stevo but probably not in my direct family line.

An Aunt seems to think that William Thomas Taylor had all sisters..no brothers...but that has not been proven as yet.

William and Mary named their children:

Robert Samuel  my Grandfather
William John (probably after Mary's father - John)
Mary
Ettie
Elizabeth
George Edward ( a twin brother of George died at childbirth about 1895)

makes me wonder where the name of George Edward came from? I have wondered where my Grandfather's middle name of Samuel came from.

Grrr  so many questions and NO answers  :)

I am looking for any info on a William Thomas Taylor. I know he was born 21 July, 1855. His father was a Robert Taylor. Both were Land Bailiffs. I know William was bailiff to Lord Charlemont. I know William married Mary Ann Simpson of Aghinlig, Armagh on 8 June, 1880 at Charlemont Church of Ireland. I know her father was John Simpson a farmer.

I am trying to find out where William was born.
His Mother's name
Any info on Robert Taylor or his wife.

My Grandfather was a Robert Samuel Taylor born in 1881.

Thanks
