I recieved the Marriage Cert this morning, it's a photocopy, so the quality isn't the best, I'm still trying to make out the Names, I'll scan it later and link it here, see if anyone can make it out.

I tried to order a cert there online, but they only go back as far as 1920, I need 1890. I've sent the HSE an email to see how I apply for it, so I may see what they say.

Yeah, Portarlington is split between Laois and Offaly by the River Barrow, that can make the searches a bit confusing sometimes.

I got the ,arriage record here...

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=fsirelandcivregmarriage&h=2563725&ti=5538&indiv=try&gss=pt&ssrc=pt_t36528794_p18949100287_kpidz0q3d18949100287z0q26pgz0q3d32768z0q26pgPLz0q3dpid

I might see if I can order one online so, that would be a lot easier. The names I have for his parents are, Robert Greene and Nancy Anderson.

Hi Tara, I didn't get the marriage cert yet, I need to make a trip up to Dublin some day and see how many certs I can copy, I possibly have his parent's names , but I can't be 100% yet. I have got a lot of information on his daughter Sarah, I've made contact with her family in the US.

Regards,
Kevin

Hi everyone, I'm looking for information on John Greene, born in Belfast in 1859. He was a member of the Royal Irish Rifles (can't find anything yet in military records). He married Catherine Murray in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath in 1890. He's  listed in the 1901 and 1911 census living in Portarlington, Co Offaly (Kings County) they lived in Cork around 1892-1893. He was born C of I, but converted to RC between the 2 census. Any information greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin
