Hi

Thank you so much,  I have trawled various documentation of the Maryland Revolutionary authorities over half a decade,  but clearly I missed these key snippets.

My family and I are truly grateful for this new information .

Thanks again!

Hi

I am new to RootsChat.com.

My ancestor Benjamin Kennedy was a British surgeon who practised inoculation in Maryland in the 1770s.  He was originally from Lichfield, Staffordshire, England.

He brought his wife Damaris and young son Rann over to America with him sometime before the Revolution began.  I have reason to believe he was in favour of the revolution at first but eventually turned Loyalist (but have no evidence).  He died in New York in 1781 or 1782 at the hands of vengeful American patriots, I have heard (but have no evidence).

He was probably working at the Hospital in New York,  as I have a letter from the head of that hospital to his widow.  She had fled back to England by that time.

If anyone has any leads about Benjamin and Damaris, or where I might look for more information, I would be most grateful.

Regards,

Tim

Marge-

My 'real' email is (*).  Email me on that and I will supply you with info about the 28th Brigade RFA - and more.  I haven't yet figured out how to reply to your personal message on this BB.

Regards
Tim

Hi
My Great Grandfather Julius was a Major in the 28th Brigade RFA and I have quite a bit of info on him if you are interested.  I visited Ypres twice and took time to see the places where he served during the Third Ypres in 1917.  He was awarded the DSO in September of that year.

He never spoke of the war to those who I know who knew him but a number of his unit worked on his farm after the war and my great aunt remembers the Scottish fairy tales told to her by one of the ex artillerymen.

Regards,
T
