Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / PANTER & COE
« on: Saturday 01 July 06 00:56 BST (UK)  »
I am searching for information on a James Alexander PANTER born around 1966 in England.

In 1891 he married in Michigan US and stated his parents names were Joseph PANTER and Lizzie COE.

I thought that the family of Joseph Panter and Lucy Coe in Northants might be a possibility but there is no James or Alexander in the 1871 census with them.

The family story is that James Alexander was the black sheep and was sent away.

Any help or suggestions or connections?

Thanks
Jane

Thank you Tati for taking the time to do the lookup. Very much appreciated.
Thanks Jaywit ... who would have guessed such a job ever existed. Not a bad job for a 10yr old boy.

Cornwall / Re: Richards Families of Breage
« on: Friday 04 November 05 06:07 GMT (UK)  »
My ancestors lived in the Porthleven area for generations.

My grandfather, Thomas Richards was residing at Thomas Terrace in Porthleven when he married in 1920. His family is found at The Gue in Porthleven in 1901.

Richard Richards and Mary Williams son Edward Williams Richards married Eliza Richards. Their son Edward Thomas Richards married Kate Pryor, daughter of John Pryor and Jane Thomas. Edward & Kate are my greatgrandparents.

John Pryor's parents were Simon Pryor and Elizabeth Saundry. Simon died young and Elizabeth remarried to William Ruberry. The Saundry's and Ruberry's were both shipwrights in Porthleven. Jane Thomas' parents were James Thomas, who was a fisherman and Thomasin Kitchen. Kate Pryor had one sister that I know of, Emily Jane who married James Henry Gilbert in 1882.

All these folks lived in Porthleven. I have been unable to find a researcher that connects up to my lines.  :(  There were other Richards living in Porthleven but I haven't been able to discover a connection with mine.

My Pascoe line is from Sithney.

Regards,
Janie

The marriage certificate of William CAWKWELL in 1872 in NSW gives his parents names as John CAWKWELL & Elizabeth HULL. It lists his birthplace as just "Yorkshire".

Well ya never know.  ;D

Maria DAVIS is the Maria Mitchell found in the 1851 census as wife of George Mitchell ... which you kindly provided .... and it does say Taunton .... which is the birthplace given on the shipping manifest.... which is also where I got her parents names. It did say her father was deceased at that time. They were in Australia by 1854. She would have been 20 in 1841.

You have given me so much to go on. I really appreciate it.

I have very sketchy bits of info - their daughter Maria ... who married George Mitchell was born in Taunton. I found references to deaths for a James and Elizabeth Davis ... don't know if they are the right couple though.

Elizabeth DAVIS died 09 Jan 1856 aged 59 born – – – Memorial type Headstone notes Wife of James. also a daughter who died in infancy Parish Shepton Mallet (CofE)

James DAVIS died 16 May 1846 aged 53 born – – – Memorial type Headstone notes Husband of Elizabeth. also a daughter who died in infancy Parish Shepton Mallet (CofE)

I am afraid that's all I have.
