Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Doherty family of Derry
« on: Tuesday 17 August 21 11:19 BST (UK)  »
So glad to see a connection to the Millars. My grandparents and their family lived next door in 105 Dungiven Rd. - Jim and Meta Mitchell. They had a shop in the 1940s.  I know from this search there is a daughter of Marie. The Millars were always spoken with high regard by my mum and her siblings.

Is there any family graves in Eglinton area prior to 1942. I know when my mum's  baby brother died, he  was buried with his grandparents .

The  hospital and Rock rd  are so close , its hard too believe there is no connection
I will put in on my 'to look into' list.
Hope someone will be of more help.

Can't help with a photo but I see from another site that you are aware of the eye & ear hospital also on the Northland Road. Quite near to it , there is Rock Road, running from Northland to Strand Road. Alot of our streets are called after prominent people in the city. I assume its for your Dr. Rock. I lived nearby and often wondered why it was called 'rock'.  I learnt something new today.  ;D

Certainly late 1800's. Argyle terrace, Glasgow  terrace etc were called because of the Scottish ship workers working in the city at the time. I grew up in one of them and ashamed to say I don't  know the exact  date.

They are very helpful.  You can email a lovely girl called Phyllis - (*)
I too had only a number like yours and she got me a lot of information.   Though they do charge for the search

Its a very small world, isn't
My friends now live in 40 Blackburn Cres.
They are living there over 10 years and felt the house had been empty for at less 1year before they moved in.
It had been her son who was selling the house.
Unfortunately they don't  know anything else
You could try local N.I. paper Belfast Telegraph and try their classified death notices, but I dont know how they keep  them online for.
