I have more relatives to look at in more detail who also lived in Bridgnorth so I'll no doubt be in touch again!

Worcestershire / John Smith born about 1800 in Kidderminster
« on: Sunday 14 October 12 09:20 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for information about the birth of John Smith in Kidderminster in about 1800 - he married Lucy born about 1798 in Kidderminster so they may well have married in Kidderminster in the early 1820's
By the 1841 census the family are living in Cartway Bridgnorth and I can place them from then onwards
I realise that with such a common name it might be a long shot
Many thanks
Catherine

Thank you all so much for all the information - especially you Gwynne
I had partly got confused with the Badhams as the 1861 census transcription give the age of Joseph Badham as 46 but I think the original looks like 66 which would tie in with the elder Joseph - his daughter Elizabeth from his 3rd marriage is my Great great grandmother
If you have time could you possibly look up the burial records for Elizabeth Wall (nee Badham) she died on 14 Feb 1883 at Burton upon Trent but I wondered if she was buried there or in her native Bridgnorth. Her 3 sons came back to Bridgnorth and were brought up by her 2 sisters.
Many thanks

Thank you so much
This confirms that he had 2 wives - I had no date for the marriages - it makes it even more confusing when his son Joseph also married an Elizabeth Smith
A final query - can you find out more about  Anna Brooks BADHAM.Christening at St Leonard's, Bridgnorth on 9 Oct 1825- I would be very interested as to what happened to her

I am looking for information on Joseph Badham bootmaker or cordwainer born 1794 in Knighton, Herefordshire
I have details of him in the censuses from 1841 onwards when he lived in Bridgnorth, Shropshire and I have him as marrying Margaret Brookes b 1788 in Morville, Shropshire - in the 1851 census she is described as his wife aged 63
However the 1841 census shows him living in Bridgnorth with his son Joseph and an Elizabeth Badham aged 53 - is this the same person or were they married twice - I can find no record of a marriage in free BMD which I would exprect if he married between 1841 & 1851
If anyone can find his marriage details I would be very interested

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Re: Look up request Richard Thomas

Thank you
I am delighted by the interest in my litle query
Mary Ann Thomas' sister was married at St Leonard's church on Dec 29 1876 but the family became Methodists at some point so perhaps that is why they are not in the parish registers
