« on: Thursday 16 January 20 00:13 GMT (UK)  »
Found it and sorted thanks. I was still set as the home person, but did the classic set to no one and reset to me and that's worked. Now back to work on the section of my tree where everyone named there son after themselves just to confuse us.

Hi, I have just found that my great uncle was a postman in london in 1926 the recruitment register says that he was based in LPS (SE) I presume that the LPS stands for London Postal Service but has anyone any idea where the SE relates to. Is it roughly the present SE post code

« on: Wednesday 18 September 19 23:22 BST (UK)  »
hi, I am helping a friend to get started on his tree. No problem on his fathers side, but his Mother was born in Kenya and her parents/grandparents were from Goa in India and were Catholics with Portuguese names. Any tips on even where to start.

Thanks Dave

The Common Room / Re: What did you do on Armistice Centenary Day?
« on: Monday 12 November 18 22:54 GMT (UK)  »
Went to the memorial from the London Regiment (Prince of Wales Civil service rifles) at somerset house  and laid a wreath in memory of my Great Uncle John. Thanks to Cousin Chris, Wife Becky, Daughter Roisin, Son Conor and Sons girlfriend Suraiya for joining me. Also many thanks to Stephen from Somerset house who arranged the service.

Ady,
He lived in Lavender Hill. Already tried that I'm afraid. I was made up when I found the regiment memorial, but apparently there was just too many names so they are all on a scroll sealed up in the memorial. I have thought that the place he worked may have had one, like the ones you see in railway stations, but I can't find out where he worked and my Grandad was much younger than him and he was just Uncle John who died in the war.
           Thanks anyway
                                   Dave

World War One / 15th (County of London) Battalion (P.W.O. Civil Service Rifles)
« on: Tuesday 08 May 18 16:09 BST (UK)  »
My great uncle John Charles Thomas served in the 15th (County of London) Battalion (P.W.O. Civil Service Rifles) and died in Oct 1918. I know where he is buried in France and I also know that the memorial to those who died from this regiment is at Somerset House. This memorial doesn't have any names inscribed and I was wondering if there is a book of remembrance anywhere, as i would like to see his name on the 100th anniversary.

Dave.
